Chris Cagle: Arrested
Country singer Chris Cagle and his girlfriend, Jennifer Tant, were arrested at 4:40am this morning after getting into a fight while partying at the Players Inn, just west of Nashville.
Police say it started as a verbal dispute when the duo left the hotel and got physical when they arrived at Cagle’s house.
The two were creative in their weapon choices because the bump on Chris’ head came from an umbrella and Tant had a cut on her lip and a sore arm from being hit with her purse. The report also says that they were intoxicated at the time. Shocking.
Both were arrested and will remain in jail until 4:40pm today with the bond set at $1500 each. (Tennessee state domestic laws view both as the primary aggressor.)
Chris is also due in court September 23 in Tucson stemming from an assault charge that took happened outside of a nightclub in Tucson, Arizona. Allegedly Chris punched a fan’s boyfriend after the fan became verbally abusive to Chris because he wouldn’t sign an autograph.

Sydney Pollack: Dead
Sydney Pollack, an Oscar winning actor and director(”Tootsie” and “Out Of Africa”), passed away Monday in his Pacific Palisades home. Pollack died as a result of an unidentified type of cancer which he was diagnosed with nine months ago. He was 73.
Kimberly Caldwell and David Cook: Getting Cozy
Looks like David Cook is getting more than he bargained for after winning American Idol, but in a good way. Cook and David Archuleta were interviewed by Kimberly Caldwell and Justin Guarini before Wednesday’s wrap-up show and Cook took the opportunity to ask Caldwell out to dinner.
Luckily, she accepted, even though it would be pretty rude to refuse in front of everyone, and it looks like the two are now getting their date on. The twosome were captured by TMZ on a date over the weekend and then talked about it on Live With Regis and Kelly Tuesday morning.
They went to dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and Cook was quite the gentleman as he was seen opening the door to the car for Caldwell.
Caldwell finished seventh on the show’s second season and is now a correspondent for the TV Guide Channel.

The guy that got us all drooling on “Sex and the City,” Jason Lewis aka Smith, was on the “CBS Early Show” to talk about the movie that comes out this week.
Katie Couric: Big Announcement!
Matt Lauer announced on Tuesday’s “Today Show” that an alum, Katie Couric, would be appearing on Wednesday’s show to make a big announcement. While Meredith Viera guessed that she would be returning to her morning role, Lauer thinks she’ll look great as a man so it’s anyones guess as to what she’ll say.
Everyone has been wondering what plans she has since it was reported that she will be leaving “CBS News” before her contract expires. (That would be in 2011 by the way.) The nightly program hasn’t done well with the ratings so they probably need to move her to where she can boost ratings.
There’s also a rumor that she is swapping jobs with blue-eyed Anderson Cooper who is on CNN but the “Today Show” would be a strange place for that announcement.
And the last rumor I heard was that the real reason is she will be appearing on a telethon hosted by ABC, CBS and NBC that supports cancer research. (Her husband Jay Monahan died in 1998 from colon cancer.) The telethon would bring together all the nightly news anchors- Charlie Gibson, Katie Couric and Brian Williams - and would be on all three networks.
Not that I’m up early enough for the “Today Show” now, but I used to catch some of it back in the day and Katie Couric was always that annoying perky anchor that just made sense to be waking America up. Her being back to the early schedule would make a lot of people happy but I’m sure she’s enjoying sleeping in too much to come back anyways.

Ashley Harkleroad: In August’s Playboy
Tennis player Ashley Harkleroad was knocked out of the French Open on Sunday with a loss to Serena Williams but still snagged the headlines by announcing her appearance in Playboy magazine.
The 22-year-old player is ranked 61st in the world, has endured a so-so career and is showing the world a bit more of herself.
She made the decision to do the photo shoot while recovering from surgery to remove cysts on her ovaries.
“I stay in shape and try to stay fit. I’m just trying to represent a female athlete and her body. That can be sexy too. It’s no big deal.”
Her spread will be featured in the August edition of the magazine.
Indiana Jones Movie: $101 Million Weekend
Harrison Ford has still got it at 65-years-old because the fourth installment of Indiana Jones raked in $101 million this weekend! And that’s only Friday to Sunday. An estimated $25 million was made on its opening day Thursday and another $25 million is expected for Monday.
That puts the movie in second place behind Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End which collected $139.8 million from Friday to Monday after opening on Memorial Day weekend last year.
The first three Indy movies took in $1.2 billion worldwide.
