A couple more reasons to hate Avril Lavigne

September 7, 2007

If you are one of the many people that can’t stand Avril Lavigne and her poser punk look she had going on, then here’s a couple more reasons to add to the list:

In an interview with Q Magazine:On dealing with her incredible success
“Selling 24 million albums hasn’t really affected me, but it has changed things. I can’t walk into a room full of people any more without everybody turning their heads, and I can only eat in certain restaurants where I know I won’t get hassled. But that’s OK. I was born to do this, and so I’ve learned how to cope.”

On her competition
“Someone like Kelly Clarkson is beautiful and has a pretty voice, but with me you get a much stronger image. I’m tough, I have a look that girls want to copy, and I sound a particular way. It’s good if you’re not easily ignored. And I’m not.”

On her generosity
“I am a very giving person. When the hurricane thing happened, I went to my closet, filled six boxes of stuff and said to my assistant, ‘Take it to Katrina!’ I also like to give stuff to people who are my ‘workers,’ especially if they don’t make much money.”

On her polarizing personality
“People love me and people hate me, but I’m comfortable in my own skin and that’s what counts. And anyway if you do hate me, you’re the loser, not me.”

That’s funny that Avril compares herself to Kelly Clarkson. At least Kelly can carry a tune even if you find her annoying. And as for the “generosity” thing, just because you give six boxes of junk from your closet to Katrina victims and occasionally give your ‘workers’ outdated rags doesn’t make you a generous person. Especially since you just said your staff doesn’t make that much money, meaning you don’t pay them squat!

In high school, most of the Punk kids i knew were very well read, some were in gifted classes, and could make half the school look like idiots in any political conversation. A true Punk or New Wave or Alternative person promotes individuality and is not concerned with showing off how cute they can be.

Most of the punk kids I knew wanted to destabilize the American economy. This trick needs to be turned out.

on the subject of hating miss Lavigne (which i do, with a passion) i was working backstage at the oxygen festival (ireland) in the canteen.. and she insisted upon having her food brought to her dressing room…which isn’t how things work(you get it yourself!!) so she threw a hissy fit and caused a load of bother..cheers avril, way to make me hate you even more!

Shes a cookie cutter artist as most of the bands out today are. Im sure any teenager who had a few million bucks flashed in their face would do the same. However, she does try to be something she is not. She is NOT tough, she is NOT punk (she is more conformist than anything) and she is not some big league legend who will be here forever. Real punks dont pay her much mind because they couldnt give a fuck about her. They know who is and is not punk regardless of the way they dress (myself included) and what they say and do. Avril does nothing punk or punk rock and I think anyone who has been involved in punk knows the difference. Let the dip shit kids think what they want. Its kind of like weeding out the mindless drones. Those who are not so easily swayed and brain washed will find their way into the punk attitude and those that dont….well?

You left out the part where she says that she’s the best thing that ever happened to her husband.

And well yeah, he’s done alright for a lawn gnome.
