Alicia Sacramone: U.S. Olympic Gymnast and Silver Medalist
Alicia Sacramone, 20, and her fellow U.S. teammates let their nerves get to them when they performed their routines for the finals and it allowed China’s team to take home the gold.
The Brown University student is U.S. gymnastics team leader while they are at the Beijing games but unfortunately they took home the silver medal instead of the coveted gold.
Sacramone, Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin all made errors during their routines and lost by a mere 2 points to the Chinese team.
This is Sacramone’s first Olympics because she was unable to make the team in 2004 and she hopes to win in the individual events which are still to come.
Sacramone, Johnson and Liukin also signed on to be CoverGirl spokesmodels in June 2008, a first for U.S. gymnasts.
