American Idol Tries to Kill Mark Mudd Controversy

Today, on the American Idol website, the producers issued a clarification about Be Careful Gate.
We apologize to any viewers who were offended by the misinterpretation of the contestant’s comment to “be careful” upon completion of his audition in Louisville, KY. Our visits to audition cities are relatively brief and sometimes regional greetings and salutations are lost in translation. We had not heard that phrase from any other contestants during the day, so it took everyone by surprise. We now know better and look forward to visiting Louisville again someday.

it was an honest mistake by the judges! they were genuinely freaked out, especially paula. it was Not for the camera or for ratings
I know the scolding Mark Mudd received made for good television drama but it was at the expense of that young man being embarassed on national television. Since they embarassed Mr.Mudd on national television with their rediculously “over the top” reaction to a common FRIENDLY departing phrase I think they should in turn apologize to Mr. Mudd on national television as well, during an elimination round for example. It just doesn’t set right with me if they don’t. Using a spokesman on an internet site is way too easy to sweep it under the rug. For God’s sakes Paula and Simon………lighten up!
