Amy Winehouse: Lung Damage

I’m not sure how much more tragic Amy Winehouse’s story can get but now emphysema is being added to the list of health issues the 24-year-old is dealing with.

Her father, Mitch Winehouse, told England’s Sunday Mirror that his daughter has developed an early stage of the lung disease emphysema thanks to her crack cocaine and smoking addictions.

“Doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs, it won’t just ruin her voice, it will kill her,” Mitch Winehouse reportedly told the Mirror. “There are nodules around the chest and dark marks. She has 70 percent lung capacity.She’s got emphysema — it’s in its early stages, but had it gone on for another month, they painted a very vivid picture of her sitting there like an old person with a mask on her face, struggling to breathe.”

This report follows a tuberculosis scare last week but she has since been tested negative. The singer was taken to the hospital last Monday after a fainting spell and she was reportedly coughing up blood and barely able to breathe.

Maybe Mel Gibson will befriend the troubled crooner like he did Britney Spears. She can use all the help she can get and hey, they both have the hate-ranting when under the influence thing in common.
