Beckham’s Galaxy Debut Not So Out of This World
David Beckham made his stateside soccer debut in yesterday’s L.A. Galaxy game against Chelsea. And guess what? They still didn’t win. L.A. came up short, losing to Chelsea 0 to 1. At a press conference post-game, Beckham spoke about his debut:
“The ankle has swollen up slightly, but that was going to happen. We’ll see how it is tomorrow.”
“It was a good performance from the team,” he added. “We just lost one nil. My 15 minutes, it was nice to get out there. I haven’t trained all week. I hadn’t kicked a ball yet today. It was just nice to be out there with the lads and get this game over and done with. I enjoyed it.”
Uuuummmm, ok, David Beckham. I’m thrilled you had a good time not winning, but $250 million dollars says you don’t get to lose and then rattle off some craptastic excuses. At least don’t be so nonchalant about it. Throw us a “Bollocks!” or a “Bloody hell!” If I was getting paid that much, I would grow wings, start blowing fire and score eleventeen goals before you could say “Spice up your life!” And at the end, I’d treat everyone to crumpets.
