Bo Diddley: Dies

BO Diddley
Rhythm genius, Bo Diddley, died today of heart failure at age 79. His unique beats influenced many top guitarists like Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton, and are thought to be an important part of the foundation of rock music.

Diddley got the name “The Orignator” for creating such innovative beats on the guitar and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 for his contributions.

Diddley suffered a heart attack in August 2007 and had suffered a stroke three months prior to that.

“One of the founding fathers of rock ‘n’ roll has left the building he helped construct,” said a statement released by a rep for the music legend.
