Brigitte Bardot: Fined $23,000

June 4, 2008

Brigitte Bardot
Brigitte Bardot, screen icon of the 1960’s, was fined 15,000 Euros ($23,151.58) today after a racist comment she made in 2006.

The actress turned animal-rights activist said the comment after giving her thoughts on the slaughtering of animals during the Aid al-Kabir holiday. (She thinks they should be stunned first.)

She said, “I’ve had enough of being led by the nose by this whole population which is destroying us, (and) destroying our country by imposing their ways.”

The 73-year-old has been fined for similar comments four times since 1997 and she says,“I will not shut up until stunning is carried out” on animals before their ritual slaughter.

Apparently, she’s been speaking out against all kinds of topics like homosexuality, immigration, and Islam in France since her retirement and doesn’t seem to know when to just shut her mouth.

Just go get yourself a nice beach house, Brigitte and chill out. Speaking up for what you believe in is all good and fine until you start getting fined left and right.
