Diamondback’s Chris Snyder: Fractured Testicle

I didn’t even know this injury was possible but after a pitch nailed catcher Chris Snyder in the groin, he is now on the 15-day disabled list for a fractured testicle.

The injury came in the fourth inning on Monday when the Diamondbacks were playing the Milwaukee Brewers.

Testicular rupture or fractured testis refers to a rip or tear in the tunica albuginea resulting in extrusion of the testicular contents.

I’m not really sure what all of those words mean but I’m pretty sure “extrusion” of any “testicular contents” can’t be good. It sounds pretty painful and messy at the same time.

Initially it was thought that Snyder might have to undergo surgery to correct the injury but reports now say that he won’t be needing that procedure.
