Don Imus: Adam “Pacman” Jones Racist Remarks

Radio host Don Imus was talking about Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones on Monday morning and let a possible racist remark slip out when talking to sports announcer Warner Wolf. It went like this.

Wolf: “He’s been arrested six times since being drafted by Tennessee in 2005.

Imus: “What color is he?”

Wolf: “He’s African-American.

Imus: (chuckles) “There you go. Now I know.”

On Tuesday morning, Imus defended his comment by saying he was making a “sarcastic point.” He feels that African Americans are “arrested for no reason” and to take that comment as racist is crazy. Listen to the full audio of his explanation below.

Imus has only been back on the air six months after being axed for referring to members of the Rutgers University women’s basketball team as “nappy-headed hoes.”
