Doras Explorer Girls - New Dora the Explorer

In a joint press release, Mattel and Nickelodeon insists preschooler Dora isn’t going anywhere, rather they are introducing a new line called Dora’s Explorer Girls, aimed at girls 5-8. Dora’s Explorer Girls scheduled to to be released in stores this Fall.

“I think there was just a misconception in terms of where we were going with this,” Gina Sirard, vice president of marketing at Mattel, says. “Pretty much the moms who are petitioning aging Dora up certainly don’t understand. … I think they’re going to be pleasantly happy once this is available in October, and once they understand this certainly isn’t what they are conjuring up.”

“The reason for creating this new Dora line is to offer an alternative to moms who want their daughters to stay little girls, a little longer,” the statement concludes. The Tween Dora doll comes with a USB port and is compatible with online story lines

Kids grow up…so why can’t cartoons? If Nickelodeon positions this character the right way, sweet little girls will remain sweet along with Dora’s during their transitional years to becoming big little girls.

i think cartoons should grow up, and make some shows about there life so kids learn how to live in a nice enviorment and so they can stay off the streets!!

I am excited about the new Dora. My daughter…who is 9…loves Dora, but is getting a bit old for her. I agree, I want her to grow up a little slower. I revealed the new Dora Explorer Girls to her and she was so excited. We do not allow Bratz and we even limit certain Barbies. The new Dora looks very sweet and conservative. Same sweet Dora, just a few years older. I am so excited!!!

You see it’s pretty sad that people are looking at this and are seeing sex. Stuff like that is only a state of mind. If you look at something like this and see sex then it’s because of subconcious pedophilic thoughts. It’s people like that, that take away children’s innocence. They introduce them to sex by trying to keep them away from it. This all boils down to parents afraid of letting their children grow up, which in turn is making it worse.

My husband & I are VERY careful about what we allows our 8 yr old daughter to wear and to watch and to play with. (NO Bratz!!!! Or any doll like them.) We are excited about the slightly older Dora. Our son is 4 and totally loves Dora and Deigo, but our daughter has outgrown the preschool Dora. But, Dora’s Explorer Girls is perfect for her. She loves to look at the new Dora friends dolls and decide which is most like her friends from school. It’s about time the toy companies came up with an age appropriate doll for little girls who aren’t preschooler anymore but aren’t teens either. Plus, having a Dora doll that is “her age” is like meeting up with an old friend again. We’re all thrilled.

      OH MY GOD,
      for all the moms(and maybe even dads) with panites stuck too far up your ass to shit right;
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BRATZ, or BARBIES.
AND I MIGHT ADD; NOTHING SEXUAL ABOUT THEM!!
so what if these dolls have “boobs” or “boyfriends”??!!
      GROW UP!
you dont think these kids see BOOBS?!
you dont think kids realize BOYS?!
      THINK AGAIN!
your worried about sexual things in these dolls?
your kids probably already know about sex.
either from a little slip up on “mommy and daddys” part.
hah, and they have the discovery channel, dont they?
      YEAH. they do.
      so just let go..
stop trying to LOOK for things to BITCH about!!
      go play with your kid.
      jesus christ people!
I PITY THE KIDS WITH PARENTS LIKE YOU!

All of you are ignorant……its not that the dolls are sexual they encourage dressing older than what children actually are therefore the children think its cute and want to dress that way and its just not age appropriate it has nothing to do with having boobs or boyfriends unless they are making out with their boyfriend and necking all over each other which there not its age appropriate wardrobe in case you havent noticed children are starting to hit puberty sooner therefore developing breast i have a 10 year old cousin in a d-cup bra but she isnt old enough to sport a cleavage showing shirt thats the issue with brats n stuff and its not age approriate to wear shirts that only cover breast either ….@ candy197 and errissalynn your speaking about bad influences errissalynn i dont know if you spell that way cause its cute or your seriously uneducated but thats a bad influence candy 197 u have a valid point but again its not that they are sexual its the age appropriate clothing there clothes arent age appropriate ……now to those of you who believe they are to sexual how many of you let your young children watch the squeakle how ever it was spelled doesnt matter my point is the new alvin and the chipmunk def. not a childrens movie i did not let my daughter watch the female chipmunks dance moves just nasty for kids and even tweens or the last shrek thats not a kids movie anymore either
