Katie Holmes: Purple Hands
Katie Holmes has been hiding her hands recently by wearing gloves and long sleeves and the reason is Scientology. Holmes, raised a Catholic, has been getting more and more into husband Tom Cruise’s wacky religion and the proof is in her hands.
Photos of Holmes recently on the set of ABC’s Eli Stone show her hiding her hands and Perez Hilton thinks he knows why.
There’s this Scientology ritual called Purification Rundown or Purif where followers take “vitamin bombs” to supposedly rid the body of toxins and that can cause discoloration of the hands.
The side effects of leader Ron Hubbard’s suggested dosages can range from liver damage, hair loss, brain swelling and nausea and even fatal heart and respiratory failure.
This body cleanse also prescribes huge doses of niacin, which can cause liver damage, peptic ulcers, and skin rashes.
I really wish I could get into Katie’s head to find out what really is going on. Is she just enjoying the spotlight and extra spending money? Or is she really too freaked out by the former heartthrob turned whacko husband of hers to run away screaming?
If anything else on her starts turning purple, I’m staging an intervention.
Phenytonin side effects can also produce purple hand syndrome. This drug can be used for seizures, skin treatment etc. So as a Nurse, I know many drugs can cause certain side effects that do not necessarily mean that its part of her religion. Buy a drug side effect book and read up before you start attacking the girls religious beliefs. I am not in her religion either. Grow up people.
Just the other day, I read that Tom actually gave Katie’s parents a large sum of money prior to the TomKat wedding. Does anyone else know about this? Wonder if it was a dowry…or just hush money?
