Kristi Yamaguchi: “Dancing With the Stars” Winner
Olympic figure-skating gold medalist, Kristi Yamaguchi, placed number one on last night’s “Dancing With the Stars” show knocking out Miami Dolphins Jason Taylor and his partner Edyta Sliwinska.
Monday’s two dances as well as Tuesday’s finale earned her and her partner, Mark Ballas, perfect scores from the judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli.
Yamaguchi, 36, told USA TODAY after the victory that she didn’t believe that her skating background was much of a factor.
“Latin dancing is a completely new world,” she says. “And it’s a huge challenge at this point in my life, being a mom to two girls and being away from them. It hasn’t been easy.”
