LeAnn Rimes: Speaks Up In Psoriasis PSA
Singer LeAnn Rimes has released a new public service announcement about her lifelong struggle with the chronic skin condition psoriasis.
Rimes, 26, was diagnosed with the disease at age 2 and was covered in red, scaly patches that would crack and bleed by age 6.
“Not only does that take a physical toll on your body, but it takes an emotional toll,” Rimes tells People Magazine. “I was very self-conscious.”
Luckily, she has been symptom-free for five years thanks to medication, diet and stress management. She has joined with the Stop Hiding Campaign to make more people aware of the disease that affects as many as 7 million Americans.
Rimes says that her husband of seven years Dean Sheremet has helped give her the courage to speak on behalf of this cause.
Speaking of her hubby, they just celebrated their seventh anniversary and Rimes’ 26th birthday on August 28th and they are now pondering future plans of parenthood.
“We’re ready, definitely,” says Rimes.
