‘Lost’ Viewers Up

Nearly 12.1 million viewers tuned into to the “Lost” season premiere Tuesday night, which is 1 million more than the average weekly audience for last season, and under 1 million more than last year’s premiere.

What makes this increase more remarkable is that some fans who tuned in could have seen it earlier, thanks to an online leak, but chose to wait.

Flying in the face of going industry wisdom, “Lost” fanatics were so amped for the TV premiere they refused to watch leaked online material, according to the HollywoodReporter.com.

“Why spoil it now? I’d rather watch it in hi-def and surround sound than ruin the surprise and watch some (low-quality) video,” one fan wrote on social networking site MyWhiteNoise.com, after clips from the opening scene hit the Internet last Friday
