Matthew McConaughey and Camilla Alves: Welcome Son Levi

Matthew McConaughey and girlfriend Camilla Alves welcomed a 7 lb., 4 oz. baby boy on Monday afternoon in Los Angeles and have named him Levi Alves McConaughey.

“A healthy baby boy was born,” Matthew, 38, said in a statement. “Camila and I were side by side the entire time.

We are both tired and elated, and are so happy to have created the greatest miracle in the world — Having a child and making a family. Now comes the greatest adventure — raising one, together.”

As for the meaning behind the name, Matt explains by saying, “Levi was another name for the apostle Matthew in The Bible. They were, in fact, two names for the same person.

Our son was born at 6:22 pm, and this particular time represents my favorite verse in the book of Matthew in The Bible: ‘If thy eye be single, thy whole body will be full of light.’”

I’m not really digging the name but this is going to be one good looking kid so I’m sure he’ll have nothing to worry about.
