Melissa Gilbert and Bruce Boxleitner seperate after 16 years.

Melissa Gilbert and husband Bruce Boxleitner have decided to seperate after 16 years of marriage.

Gilbert released a statement saying, “We have loved each other for a very long time and we share four incredible sons together. On behalf of our family we ask to be allowed our privacy during this very difficult time.”

This is not the first time the couple has had problems. Boxleitner called off their engagment twice before finally tying the knot with Gilbert in 1995. The couple welcomed their only child together that same year, son Michael Garrett Boxleitner, who was named after Gilbert’s co-star from “Little House on the Prarie”, Michael Landon.
