The winner of the 2008 Miss America beauty pageant is Miss Michigan, Kirsten Haglund.

The runners up:

4th runner up: Miss South Carolina (Crystal Alicia Garrett)
3rd runner up: Miss Virginia (Hannah Martine Kiefer)
2nd runner up: Miss Washington (Elyse L. Umemoto)
1st runner up: Miss Indiana (Nicole Elizabeth Rash)

Haglund is 19 years old and attends the University of Cincinnati’s Conservatory of Music. She wants to eventually pursue a career on Broadway. I’m not entirely sure if a Miss America win helps her or hurts her with that ambition?

      Actually Miss NORTH Carolina, Jessica Jacobs, was the 4th runnerup. Miss South Carolina was eliminated in the cutdown from 16 to 10 finalists.
