“Nashville Star” Winner: Melissa Lawson

The 32-year-old mother of five boys from Arlington, Texas beat out fellow Texan Gabe Garcia to win Nashville Star last night.

Lawson’s prize is a record contract with Warner Bros. Records, to be produced by John Rich and will perform at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing on August 12th to be shown on NBC’s The Today Show.

Her first single “What if it All Goes Right” will be released on country music stations today.

The top four finalists will begin a nationwide tour later this year.
