Natalie Cole: Hospitalized, Hepatitis C Setback

Singer Natalie Cole has been hospitalized in NYC as a result of the side effects from her chemotherapy treatments to combat her Hepatitis C.

Cole revealed in July that she had been diagnosed with the liver disease after a routine blood test in April. Doctors believe she contracted the disease by sharing needles when she was a heroin addict in the 80’s and that the disease stayed dormant for the last 25 years.

“I give myself a weekly injection of chemotherapy in my thigh. When I started in May, I thought I was dying. I couldn’t get out of bed for three weeks – literally. I was nauseous every day. I lost 15 pounds from not eating.”

This mixed with her promotional tour for her new album Still Unforgettable sent the Grammy Winner to the hospital.

Cole will take time for some much needed rest and will postpone her October performance dates.
