Oprah Picks ‘Love In The Time Of Cholera’ As Newest Book Club Selection

October 13, 2007

Love In The Time Of Cholera

Oprah has made her newest book club selection, and she’s gone to author Gabriel Garcia Marquez for the second time, picking “Love In The Time Of Cholera”. Oprah selected Marquez’s book “One Hundred Years of Solitude” in 2004.

Pretty good timing by Oprah, because a film adaptation of “Love In The Time Of Cholera” will be coming to theatres on November 16th (directed by Mike Newell who directed Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire).

Just in case you were wondering how powerful Oprah is with this sort of thing, the publisher of “Love In The Time Of Cholera” has announced a new printing of 750,000 copies. A book generally only needs to sell 5-10,000 copies to make it onto The New York Times Bestseller list. Pretty amazing.
