Pink Floyd Original Member Richard Wright: Dies

September 15, 2008

Richard Wright, a founding member of the group Pink Floyd, died at the age of 65 after battling cancer.

Wright was the keyboard player in the band and wrote music for the classic Pink Floyd albums Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here.

His spokesman said: “The family of Richard Wright, founder member of Pink Floyd, announce with great sadness, that Richard died … after a short struggle with cancer. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.”

It’s unclear what type of cancer that Wright had.

Wright taught himself to play keyboards and met up with Roger Waters and Nick Mason while attending architecture school.
