Pregnant Man: Gives Birth
The pregnant man, Thomas Beatie, gave birth to a baby girl last Friday. Beatie delivered the baby naturally even though some published reports claimed the birth would be via C-section.
“The only thing different about me is that I can’t breastfeed my baby. But a lot of mothers don’t,” Beatie was quoted as saying.
Beatie started life as a female but underwent hormone therapy and had his breasts removed so he could become a man. He is now legally a man and lives in Oregon with his wife, Nancy.
When Nancy could not become pregnant due to a hysterectomy as a result of endometriosis, Beatie decided to artificially inseminated to carry their child.
He plans on publishing a book about the experience in the fall.
