Rielle Hunter Breaks Her Silence

Rielle Hunter has finally broken her silence and gave an interview to GQ magazine in which she addresses topics such as her first encounter with John Edwards, whom she calls “Johnny,” her fears about John’s “toxic marriage to Elizabeth Edwards, the donor funds and Andrew Young.

Rielle told GQ that her first encounter with John Edwards was so magnetic that they ended up sleeping together. She said he is so “hot” in person, nothing like the geek he appears to be on TV. She also said she is still in love with him. She said John was fearful of Elizabeth Edwards, calling the marriage, “toxic” and said John was fearful of the “Wrath of Elizabeth.”

Hunter also said that it was Andrew Young’s idea to claim paternity in order to cover up the scandal. She said Young was more in love with John Edwards than he was with his wife, Cheri. She also denied knowing where her “support” money came from during her relationship with John and during her pregnancy. She said Andrew Young would deposit $5,000 in her account every month and said it was on the up and up. She called it a “gift,” rather than hush money. Young responded to these claims in a report for the Washington Post expressing empathy for Hunter but ultimately calling her naive.

Elizabeth Edwards, now separated from John Edwards, declined comment. John Edwards declined comment as well but Rielle said that he is “supportive of me talking now.”
