Shia LaBeouf: Car Wreck and DUI

Shia LaBeouf, the 22-year-old actor from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Transformers, was charged with DUI after a multi-car wreck early Sunday morning in Hollywood.

The accident happened when LaBeouf was turning left and hit another car causing his vehicle to roll over. He was taken to the hospital with injuries to his knee and head and required surgery for wounds to his hand.

His unidentified female passenger and the passenger from the car he struck received minor injuries and have been released from the hospital.

LaBeouf’s rep issued this statement: “Attorneys for Mr. LaBeouf confirm that an automobile accident involving an additional party occurred early morning in Los Angeles on July 27, 2008.

Shia is currently recovering from extensive hand surgery with plans to return to work on the set of Transformers 2 within one month. No further comment will be issued at this time.”

Since it was a misdemeanor, a bail wasn’t set and LaBeouf was given an August court date.

This isn’t his first run-in with the law. In November 2007, he was arrested for trespassing at a Chicago Walgreens but the charges were later dropped.
