Spray On Condom: Rubbers in a Can?!?
Ok, this isn’t exactly celeb related but I couldn’t not write about this. Spray on condoms. Just the idea piqued my curiosity and since the first article I came across was in reputable news source Time, I knew this wasn’t someone hard up for a laugh.
So this German sexual health educator goes into a car wash….and inside, Jan Vinzenz Krause came up with the idea of spray on condoms. (I personally pretend I’m in a rain forest when I’m in the car wash but to each his own.)
The condom market is pretty huge and keeps increasing with sales heading towards $444 million annually by 2010 so this guy has a good audience.
Krause become frustrated as a teen because he couldn’t find the right size condom (use your imagination on that one) and came up with an online condom advisor in 2001 which provides printable measuring tapes and helps guys find the condom that will fit them like a glove.
The prototype for this spray on condom is a hard plastic tube that sprays liquid latex from all directions but some kinks are still being worked out. Like the fact that guys are nervous to use the tube and the hissing of the spray might kill the mood. Or perhaps the fact that the latex takes 5 to 10 minutes to dry.
“So honey, I have the spray ready…come and get it in oh say five or ten minutes. You know I like to wait.”
Until the faster drying latex comes along, Krause and his Jolly Joe Spray have been put on hold indefinitely. He plans on working on regular ol’ condoms of different sizes in the meantime.
You know guys will find a million other things to latex when this product comes out.
“Um hun, what’s on the dog’s tail?”
