Adam Lambert to visit ‘The View’

December 5, 2009 by m.coonce · Leave a Comment

After taking heat from Adam Lambert’s fans and gay advocates for a week, ABC on Friday extended an olive branch of sorts to the “American Idol” runner-up who made headlines with his provocative performance last month at the American Music Awards in which he kissed a male musician.

ABC canceled Lambert’s scheduled appearances on “Good Morning America” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and stopped considering him for “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” which drew thousands of complaints from viewers and gay advocates who believed the network was retaliating against him because he is gay.

On Friday night, Lambert took to Twitter, where he first announced the cancellations, to tell his fans that he will appear on “The View” next Thursday.

Without offering an explanation and declining to comment, ABC confirmed the appearance.

Lambert will be interviewed by “The View” hosts and will perform. Both will be pre-taped because Lambert has a scheduling conflict and cannot be in New York on Thursday, sources said.

Lambert will appear on “The View” the morning after his interview with Barbara Walters for her “10 Most Fascinating People” special on ABC. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, which earlier accused ABC of subjecting Lambert to a double standard, applauded ABC’s invitation.

Lambert Gets Simulate BJ on Stage at AMA

Adam Lambert admits he got carried away with his American Music Awards performance on Sunday. But he’s not apologizing.

The glam rocker from “American Idol” kissed a male keyboard player and had a dancer simulate oral sex on him while performing “For Your Entertainment” on the awards show. He said on CBS’ “The Early Show” on Wednesday that he got carried away, “but I don’t see anything wrong with it.”

Lambert noted that his performance came at nearly 11 p.m. and if parents were worried about what their children were watching, they should monitor it themselves.

Offered a chance to apologize, he declined. And the openly gay singer says he believes there wouldn’t be nearly as much of an outrage if he were straight.

“American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert already cleared up speculation about his sexuality, telling Rolling Stone in June that he is gay, but adding that he does “make out with girls from time to time.” Still, despite that, some might be surprised by his recent photo spread in Details magazine.

In one photo, Lambert is tongue-to-tongue with a woman, and in another, Lambert (clothed) is with the same woman, who’s wearing nothing but Lambert’s hands, which are strategically placed.

Gene Simmons tells Adam Lambert to “Shut the F**k Up”

Gene Simmons tells Adam Lambert to “Shut the F**k Up”

Gene Simmons of Kiss stopped by the FOX Philadelphia studios yesterday, to talk about his A&E reality show, Family Jewels.

While there, the rocker front man shared some advice he had for American Idol runner up Adam Lambert.

Namely, that Adam should stop telling people about his sexual preferences - we think the pot is calling the kettle black - which star talks about their sexuality more?!

While Simmons said Adam is “great and has a lot of talent,” adding that “he’s got a future if he wants to sing in Queen or be on Broadway,” he doesn’t think he’s a true rock singer in the mold of Rolling Stone’s Mick Jagger.

He’s also had some advice for Adam, “Mostly he should shut up about his sexual preferences. We, America, the rest of the world, really don’t care,” he added, “I mean, if the story becomes ‘I prefer farm animals to,’ you know, who cares?”

Adam Lambert Denies Voting Scandal on American Idol

Kris Allen and Adam Lambert appeared together on The Today Show (video here).

The pair were interviewed by Natalie Morales. Both singers claimed to know nothing about the huge phone line voting scandal essentially saying the idea of it is crazy and they think that the voting was fair.

AT&T released a statement on Wednesday saying:

“Last week, countless parties were held in homes, bars, and other public places across America to watch the American Idol finale. In Arkansas, a few local AT&T employees were invited to attend two local watch parties organized by the community. Caught up in the enthusiasm of rooting for their hometown contestant, they brought a small number of demo phones with them and provided texting tutorials to those who were interested.”

“Going forward, we will make sure our employees understand our sponsorship celebrates the competition, not individual contestants. That said, it’s quite a leap to suggest that a few individuals could have impacted the final results.”

“Fox and the producers of American Idol are absolutely certain that the results of this competition are fair, accurate and verified. Kris Allen is, without a doubt, the American Idol. We have an independent third-party monitoring procedure in place to ensure the integrity of the voting process. In no way did any individuals unfairly influence the outcome of the competition.”

Adam Lambert, who is one of the favourites to win American Idol and can be seen above, covers the May 15 2009 issue of Entertainment Weekly.

From Entertainment Weekly:

“With his mop of glam-rock cobalt-blue-on-dyed-black hair, his hearing, his sneering, and his unambiguously ambiguous sexuality, Adam would have probably been brushed off early on. And there was also a time, more recently, when Adam would have made it to Hollywood but been dismissed as ‘too Broadway’ or ‘too musical theater.’”
