Johnny Depp was named People magazine’s “sexiest man alive” for a second time on Wednesday, joining an elite club of double honorees that includes George Clooney and Brad Pitt.

People magazine described the swashbuckling “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie star as “the king of cool with the killer cheekbones”. Depp, who also took the title in 2003, succeeded 2008 winner Hugh Jackman.

Asked why Depp, 46, had won a second time, People senior editor Kate Coyne told the CBS Early Show: “He was sexy ten years ago, he’ll be sexy ten years from now. He appeals to multiple generations of women — and for many different reasons to different kinds of women.”

Depp’s recent roles include 1930s gangster John Dillinger in “Public Enemies” and the murderous London barber “Sweeney Todd”. His next screen role is as the Mad Hatter in director Tim Burton’s adaptation of “Alice in Wonderland” which is due for release in March 2010.

In real life, Coyne noted that Depp, 46, was also a committed father of two.

“He’s sort of everything,” Coyne said. “He’s a guy’s guy, kind of a bad boy, he’s a respected artist and actor. You know, he’s got a little bit of everything.”

People also gave a nod to the popularity of vampire-themed movies and TV shows, adding the likes of “Twilight” heartthrob

Robert Pattinson and “Vampire Diaries” star Ian Somerhalder to its sexiest issue.

Matt Bomer, star of the new USA TV series “White Collar” was named sexiest rising star. Other newcomers to People’s 2009 list include “American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert and “Glee” actors Matthew Morrison, Cory Monteith and Mark Salling.

Prejean Sex Tape May be a Good Thing?

We Still Don't Like You

We Still Don't Like You

You make us sick. Seriously, stop being so creepy. Carrie Prejean was just doing what all teenage girls do – she was simply exploring her sexuality. With her bare hands. On video. While she probably licked her lips and repeatedly mentioned what a bad girl she’d been. Who’d watch something as sick as that? You? Ugh, you disgusting pervert. Carrie Prejean was a teenager when she made it. A teenager!

Except that might not be the case. Carrie Prejean’s ex-boyfriend says that Carrie was actually 20 when she made the sex tape, and that she’s doing everything she can to lie about it.Carrie Prejean’s sex tape could have been the best thing that ever happened to her. Had you heard of Paris Hilton before the Paris Hilton sex tape was released? Had you heard of Kim Kardashian before her sex tape was released? Or Abi Titmuss? Honestly, the Carrie Prejean sex tape could have been Carrie’s ticket to the big league. No longer would she be known as the beauty queen with the slightly suspect views on gay marriage – instead she’d be known as the beauty queen who voluntarily stuck her fingers up her minge on a video once. She’d be a superstar!

But no. That isn’t to be. Carrie Prejean stupidly decided to make her sex tape when she was a teenager, which means that nobody can watch it unless they want to be known as a filthy pedophile for the rest of their lives. Sorry Carrie Prejean, but you just missed your one shot at immortality.

“Tonight I’m just gonna dance around with my band and my crew and my label,” she told PEOPLE after winning Entertainer of the Year in Nashville Wednesday night.

“I’m going to go hang out with my crew and my band and the people at my record label, and we’re going to hug and dance and jump up and down,” she added later.

“I never imagined that the unattainable thing that I dreamed about could happen to me at 19,” she said. “It’s a lot to absorb. So now the next challenge is to find the next challenge.”

But first things first – where to put her awards.

“I got my first place, so I’m going to put these someplace very, very centrally located!” she said. “I’m not quite sure where. I might have to put up some shelves.”
