“It has been a tough year for Demi, and her mom has been a constant source of support. But fame has also taken its toll on her family,” the source went on to say. “Now [that] Demi is strong again, her mom could take some time to deal with her own issues.”
Lovato, 18, supported her mom through rehab and she is back home with the family now. Lovato has been battling depression, bulimia and anorexia and admits that she suffers from bipolar disorder. Her mom stayed by Lovato’s side during her rehab as well, even going as far as getting mother/daughter matching ‘Stay Strong’ tattoos.

Actress Demi Lovato has revealed that she suffers from bipolar disorder. During a recent interview, the 18 year old said, “I never found out until I went into treatment that I was bipolar.” Lovato underwent treatment for three months for bulimia, depression and anorexia.
“Looking back it makes sense,” she said about her diagnosis. “There were times when I was so manic, I was writing seven songs in one night and I’d be up until 5:30 in the morning. I feel like I am in control now where my whole life I wasn’t in control,” she went on to say.
Lovato Twittered her support for Catherine Zeta-Jones a few days ago when she went public with her diagnosis of the disorder. Lovato wrote, “I don’t know Catherine Zeta-Jones personally but what she has decided to do it SO brave. And SO difficult but worth it… I’m proud of her.”
.”If you are going through that dark period, go to your family and closest friends,” she said in another interview. “Don’t put yourself in danger.” She continued saying how important it is to have supportive family and friends.
Wednesday, Zeta-Jones said she hoped that going public with her disorder would help others to seek the treatment they need. “This is a disorder that affects millions of people and I am one of them,” Zeta-Jones told a source. “If my revelation of having bipolar II has encouraged one person to seek help, then it is worth it. There is no need to suffer silently and there is no shame in seeking help.”
Sources say, Zeta-Jones is in Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, Conn. for treatment.
