Dr. Conrad Murray has been ordered to stand trial for manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson. Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor made his decision after witnesses testified that he administered a dose of a powerful anesthetic propofol and did not properly monitor the pop star.

During the preliminary hearing the court heard testimony that Murray had ordered hundreds of bottles of the drug in the months before Jackson’s death. Jackson’s bodyguard testified that on the morning of the singer’s death, Murray did not seem to know how to administer CPR to his dying patient.

Pastor granted the California Medical Board with their request to suspend Murray’s license to practice medicine in California. The judge ordered Murray to notify every district in which he practices of the decision within 24 hours. Murray has clinics in Houston and Las Vegas.

Murray pled not guilty. Murray faces up to four years in prison if convicted.

The Medical Board of California is asking the judge to pull Dr. Conrad Murray’s license if he is ordered to stand trial.

Judge Michael Pastor should reportedly make a ruling soon as to whether or not Dr. Conrad Murray will stand trial on manslaughter for the death of Michael Jackson. If, in fact, the judge comes back with a ‘yes’ then the attorney for the board will ask for Murray’s license immediately.

It’s likely that if California takes Murray’s license, Texas and Nevada’s boards would follow suit.

A powerful anesthetic recovered from Michael Jackson’s bedside after he died had been purchased in Nevada by his doctor who had it shipped to California, court documents show.

Search warrant records released Friday show that Dr. Conrad Murray bought the sedative propofol from Applied Pharmacy Services on May 12, according to receipts found in his Las Vegas medical office.

The Los Angeles County coroner blamed propofol in ruling that the 50-year-old pop music icon’s June 25 death was a homicide. The coroner also cited the sedative lorazepam.

Murray, 56, is the focus of a Los Angeles police homicide investigation, but has not been charged with a crime.

The cardiologist, who is licensed in Nevada, California and Texas, told police he used propofol along with other sedatives to help Jackson sleep.

Propofol is usually used in medical settings by anesthesia professionals to render patients unconscious for surgery. Officials say it is not meant for use as a sleep agent. However, the milky liquid drug is not regulated by state and federal authorities as a controlled substance.
