‘Eclipse’ Rakes in More than $30 Million in Midnight Screening

“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” broke the record for highest-grossing midnight screenings. The movie to previously hold this record was “New Moon.” It also has the potential to set a record for the top grossing movie opening over the Fourth of July weekend. The current record holder is “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” which raked in $200 million.

Twilight fans are gearing up for the third installment of the series, Eclipse, which premieres June 30th. A sort of “tent city” has erected outside the Nokia Theatre in LA. There will be 9,000 wristbands handed out to fans who must abide by the list of camping rules set up by Nokia officials who also say that the wristbands must be worn until the premiere is over.

‘Eclipse’ Gets a Director
Summit Entertainment has finally released who will be directing the third film in the Twilight saga! Rumors swirled that ‘Twilight‘ director Catherine Hardwicke would be returning, or perhaps even Drew Barrymore. But the director is: David Slade! Twilight author Stephanie Meyer shared, “I am thrilled that David Slade will be directing ECLIPSE. He’s a visionary filmmaker who has so much to offer this franchise. From the beginning, we’ve been blessed with wonderful directorial talent for the Twilight Saga, and I’m so happy that ECLIPSE will be carrying on with that tradition.”
Hopefully David Slade will continue to make improvements to the series. He has one thing going for him, I don’t think anyone could make Eclipse worse than the first film.
