Bristol Palin’s Advance onto the DWTS Finale Sparks Outrage

November 18, 2010 by David · Leave a Comment

Bristol Palin beat out Brandy and will be dancing in the finale of Dancing with the Stars. This sparked outrage across America……Some dude in Wisconsin even shot his TV in disgust. There is talk that the tea party peeps are voting for Bristol because of who here mama is. So, is there truth in that? Well, USC professor of mass media and pop culture explains a possible reason why that may be correct. He said, “All these shows are open to this kind of thing. It doesn’t have to be necessarily for political reasons. Part of the tea party message and part of the Sarah Palin message is about ‘normal people.’ So let’s have normal people go on the show. Let’s have people with two left feet win a dance contest. She represents people who couldn’t participate in this show. So she’s a kind of a Doppelganger surrogate for people who could never get to this level.”

Michael Grimm beat out Jackie Evancho in America’s Got Talent finale last night, winning a cool $1 million. Grimm told People, “I really thought Jackie had it in the bag. I was preparing my speech to leave. I couldn’t believe I heard my name. I was trying to make sure that what I thought was going on was going on, you know? This is definitely an out-of-body experience. This whole journey has been, but especially now.” So, what is the Mississippi blues singer plan to do with all that cash? Grimm said, “My grandparents don’t have to worry about anything anymore. I can’t put into words what that means to me. They’ve supported me in the music through the years, and they’ve seen me fall and get back up and keep going. Now I can take care of them.”

David Good and Natalie Getz won the finale and its $250,000 award. David Good, an entrepreneur, said “It feels fantastic and surreal to be a hundred-thousandaire. I hope I wake up tomorrow and it’s still real.” Getz, a bartender, was not sure of how her cast mates would vote, saying, “I kept doing the vote in my head trying to figure out who were our friends, but you don’t know what people would base their vote on.”

So how do they plan on spending the money? Good will use some to promote his upcoming book, The Man Code, as well as to finance a fun day for his hometown’s military families. Getz will use her half of the award to pay off student loans, start her own styling business and start a prostate cancer charity in honor of her dad.

She wrote on her blog, “I think there better be one more dance left in me,” she wrote. “C’mon, I know you missed my unique dance style!” She also blogged about life after DWTS, “A few days ago, I was playing dress up with the kids (I was forced to judge the contest in a dancing manner. Unlike judges who shall remain nameless, each costumed child received an exuberant “TEN!!!” from the mother judge!), and happened to look over. My eyes landed on my abandoned dance shoes and a wave of sadness mixed with a longing came over me.” She continued on, blogging, “Ohhhh suddenly I missed EVERYTHING about dancing — not only the friends I have made and stay in touch with almost daily, but also learning the steps and even the fear of sudden death that the dance floor caused me! Gulp! Swallow the nostalgia … Okay, all better…”
