Ricky Gervais, who hosted the Golden Globe Awards, attacked numerous stars during his duties. We all expected Gervais to attack, but he went a little too far when he made fun of Philip Berk, the head of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
A source has said, “Ricky will not be invited back to host the show next year, for sure. For sure any movie he makes he can forget about getting nominated. He humiliated the organization last night and went too far with several celebrities whose representatives have already called to complain.”
The quotes that got him fired were:
“I’d like to quash the rumors that the only reason The Tourist was nominated was so that the Hollywood Foreign Press can hang out with Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. That is rubbish, that is not the only reason. They also accepted bribes.” “I’m sorry more members of the foreign press aren’t with us tonight, but many were deported right before the show along with most of the waiters. And Javier Bardem.”
Philip Berk [president of the HFPA] told a source, “Ricky blew it big time. It’s one thing to make fun of celebrities but it’s another to make them totally uncomfortable,” an source says. “People in that room were furious but had to sit and smile because the camera’s were on them. It really says something when several people who attended said they would have felt safer with Kathy Griffin hosting.”
However, each time that the camera went to the audience, the smiles looked real. He sure has everyone buzzing today. After the show Gervais reportedly said he did not believe that he had gone too far.

This Sunday Gerard Butler will present at the Golden Globe Awards.
He recently interviewed in Cosmopolitan Magazine (via Just Jared) about the kinds of dates he likes to go on, saying, “Sometimes I will tell a girl to meet me on a bridge so we can just walk. I think you learn more about a person when you’re not just sitting at dinner repeating information about yourself.”
Ironically, the woman interviewing him was asked to meet him at a bridge, she declined and settled for an underpass.
