Reviews for James Franco and his Oscar presentation.

February 28, 2011 by David · 1 Comment

The reviews for James Franco’s performance for hosting the Oscars are that he was “Distracted and blase”, according to sources. Another source has said he “bombed”.

“This was a disaster,” one TV executive told sources. “Before the show began something was wrong with James. His live interview on ABC backstage should have been a warning sign. He was awkward and looked as if he knew what a terrible evening was ahead for all of us.”

James made more than 20 short videos, sending them on Twitter, and was distracted by his cell phone.

James admitted to sources that he only had the weekend to rehearse so there was a lack of preparation. He chose to fly back to the East Coast weekdays to attend classes at Yale University.

“I’m not sure what happened,” one insider has said. “At rehearsals James and Anne were on fire. It seemed 20 minutes into the show as if James lost interest and just gave up while nerves might have gotten the better of Anne.”

When Billy Crystal, who has hosted the awards show eight time, the audience’s excitment level hit the roof. Sources from the Academy say they hope Billy will return again next year and provide the entertainment that was lacking this year.

Also, I don’t mean to sound overly serious, but I am the youngest host in history and I have no business being cynical or calling anyone out. I certainly haven’t earned the right to do that.’

Hathaway also told sources that the duo did not have to come up with their own jokes. They were given the script already written up.

James Franco is talking about starring in a pornography based movie.

Actor James Franco is reportedly considering trying out the pornography industry’s side of life. Franco is allegedly in the talking stages of starring with Kate Hudson in a film about porn star Linda Lovelace and her famous pornographer husband, Chuck Traynot. This is not the same movie that was about Lovelace that originally was to star LiLo. (Both of the mentioned films are having a tough time finding funding.)

The film that Franco is considering will be based on the book, The Complete Linda Lovelace, which is about the relationship she had with Traynor. The duo made the famous film, Deepthroat in 1972. Later, the couple divorced and she accused him of prostitution and pushing her into making the industry.

Franco will have to find the time in his terribly busy schedule. He currently has two directing projects on his calendar, is hosting the Oscars as well as starring with Nicole Kidman on Broadway.

Taylor Lautner and James Franco Will Host December SNL

Taylor Lautner

Taylor Lautner

When SNL announced yesterday that James Franco and Taylor Lautner would be hosting in December, I had one thought: Man, I would love to see these two wrestle. Just kidding: I thought man, James Franco is going to obliterate poor Taylor Lautner and his biceps of teenwolf lust.

In Lautner’s defense, he’ll be one of the youngest hosts the show has ever had — a few months shy of his 18th birthday puts him among the 10 youngest. I’m worried that we might have a January Jones redux on our hands, though: Lautner is famous for one and only one thing, and given how much the show has struggled this season to give hosts a variety of material, that’s going to make writing for him pretty tough. Might he be charismatic and nimble enough to carry it anyway? Eh…live TV has slayed far mightier foes.

Which brings us to Franco. Franco hosted last year, and he did a pretty solid job — plus he’s a naturally funny guy who has been in many comedies. He’s also shown himself to be a really good sport about making fun of himself, which is often what the best SNL sketches come from.
