Jason Castro is excited about being a dad.

‘American Idol’ season 7 contestant Jason Castro has announced that he and wife, Mandy Mayhall, are expecting their first daughter together.
Castro wrote, : “I am excited to announce that there will be a new addition to the Castro family! My wife and I are expecting our first child this August. We just found out yesterday that it is going to be a girl! haha that makes me laugh… what am i going to do with a sweet little girl?! probably just smile alot…I cannot wait!!! It’s an exciting time…”
Castro, 24, is a native Texan, but his parents were from Columbia so his first language was Spanish growing up. He came in 4th place on ‘American Idol’ and released his self-titled debut album one year ago.
Castro became known as the man in dreads. Last year during an interview, he was asked if he would cut them and his reply was, , “A million dollars would do the trick! It’s kind of working for me and saving me money on haircuts. Even though I wake up every morning and think, “Wow, it would be fun to shave my head today,” they do have some symbolic meaning to me….I started them in high school as kind of a joke, [then] I kind of went though a small depression trying to figure out, Who am I?….I decided that I’m going to keep this hair as long as I’m pursuing music. To me, that was important. It was like keeping a piece of myself.”

Over the weekend, former ‘Idol’ Jason Castro married his girlfriend, Mandy Mayhall, near Dallas. They became engaged back in November and Jason has been sure to keep his fans updated on his status using his Twitter account.
“Yesterday I married the girl of my dreams,” Castro tweeted.

On Wednesday’s Kansas City stop in the American Idol tour, the judges are reunited with a familiar face, last season’s fourth runner up Jason Castro.
Castro accompanied his brother Michael to try out for the show and Michael called his bro more “girlie” than him.
He’s straight through to Hollywood so do you think that he will go farther than his dreadlocked brother?
