Kara DioGuardi to star in Broadway’s ‘Chicago’.

Kara DioGuardi left ‘American Idol’ last fall after two seasons as a judge on the show and is now headed to join the Broadway cast of ‘Chicago’. She will be taking over the role of Roxie Hart from Christy Brinkley. Actress Renee Zellweger won a Golden Globe for the part in the film in 2002.
DioGuardi, 40, will begin her eight weeks on the hit show on September 5.

DioGuardi is currently working as a judge on ‘Platinum Hit’, which is a songwriting competition on Bravo. The born and raised New York native began pursuing fame as a rock star, but found success, instead, as a songwriter for pop artists.

Former ‘American Idol’ judge, Kara DioGuardi writes memoirs.

Former ‘American Idol’ judge Kara DioGuardi reveals that she was molested as a child and was a victim of date rape by a well-known music producer in her soon to be released memoir.

The memoir is called ‘A Helluva High Note’. DioGuardi talks about being repeatedly molested by a family friend when she was 11 years old. “On one particular day, he took me into the back shed of his house and put his hands all over my breasts and vagina.” she writes. “I remember freezing and not knowing what to do.”

She also reveals that she was date raped by a well-known producer after dinner. She writes, “Within a few hours, he was on top of me, pumping, sweating, and speaking to me in Spanish, not a word of which I could understand.”

DioGuardi goes on to say that a “hugely successful artist” sexually harassed her just a few years later. She was invited on a song writing trip, but instead of writing songs, the trip was more sexual and “consisted of watching Russian porn, scavenging around the kitchen for food and leering at two strippers…as they performed sex acts in the living room.”

DioGuardi says she never told anyone for fear it would interfere with her career.

She ended up asking producers to let her out of her contract with ‘American Idol’ due to the fact that she was struggling to conceive a baby. She writes, “I wanted a child and there was no way I could get pregnant under the stress of eighteen-hour work days and live TV. I had undergone three unsuccessful rounds of IVF during Season 9.”
