Lindsay Lohan’s necklace hearing today.

May 11, 2011 by David · Leave a Comment

Lindsay Lohan is expected to plead no contest in her grand theft case today. This move will keep the star from spending any time in jail.

Lohan is not required to appear at the hearing due to the fact that the charges were reduced to a misdemeanor last month. The judge determined that Lohan violated her probation from a 2007 DUI arrest and was sentenced 120 days in jail. After spending a few hours with her attorney, she filed an appeal of the four month jail sentence due to her probation violation.

Judge Sautner decided not to dismiss the case altogether at that time and said “I’m going to give her an opportunity” to prove that she is innocent of the charges.

Lohan remains on probation for the DUI arrest from 2007 and is accused of taking the necklace three weeks after she was released from her court ordered rehab at the Betty Ford Center.

Lohan has spent quite a bit of time behind bars in recent years, ranging from 84 minutes to 14 days. Lohan was released early due to state mandated credits for time served as well as overcrowding.

Lohan has signed on to play Victoria Gotti in the upcoming “Gotti: Three Generations”.

Al Pacino has joined John Travolta and Lindsay Lohan for the crime saga, “Gotti: Three Generations”.
Pacino has signed on to play the Gambino crime family underboss Neil Dellacroce. Dellacroce was an associate and mento to John Gotti, Sr., who will be played by Travolta, according to producer, Fiore Films.

Pacino will reunite with Levinson, who directed him in his role as Dr. Jack Kevorkian in the TV movie last year, which Pacino took home an Emmy for. Levinson also directed “Rain Man” in 1988 which he won an Academy Award for.

Pacino, 71, starredas the mob leader in “The Godfather” movies and won best actor Oscar for 1992 “Scent of a Woman”.

“My guess is it’s going to be someone that we may not really know. I only say that because I don’t know now who’s out there as a name where you say, `Oh, yeah, he could be Gotti Jr.,’” Levinson said. “I’ve always worked with a lot of unknowns, people who hadn’t really established themselves, so I’ve got no reluctance about that whatsoever.”

Actress Lindsay Lohan was sentenced for 480 hours of community service for violating her probation from a 2007 DUI charge. 120 of those hours will be spent at LA County Department of Coroner’s facility. Lohan, 24, will be doing janitorial services like cleaning bathrooms, cleaning the floors and picking up trash.

Coroner Assistant Chief, Ed Winter told sources, “she won’t be handling any dead bodies but she’ll certainly see them.”

This will not be the actresses first community service in the coroner’s office. She served hours at the facility in 2007.

The remaining 360 hours will be done at LA Downtown Women’s Center. She has 120 days to complete her community service.

Lohan’s lawyer filed an appeal of her 120 day sentence. She is free on bail until her May 11 pretrial hearing to get a sentence for her theft of a $2,500 necklace from a Venice, California boutique.

Lindsay Lohan sentenced to jail time for violating probation.

Lindsay Lohan was taken directly from court to the courthouse to be booked for jail time on Friday. Lohan was sentenced to 120 days in jail for violating her probation, sources say.

Judge Stephanie Sautner ruled that Lohan had violated her probation from 2007 DUI arrest. Judge Sautner also ruled that she has to complete 480 hours of community service. The judge had reduced her grand theft cae from a felony to a misdemeanor after testimony about the stolen necklace.

Lohan’s attorney filed a notice of an appeal and the judge set the bail at $75,000. She previously turned down a couple of plea bargains.

The owner of the store, Sofia Kaman testified that Lohan stole a $2500 necklace from her store on January 22. She went on to testify that Lohan had been coming in the store all week but had not made any purchases. Lohan had told Kaman that she would be back to buy something the next day.

Lohan claims that the necklace was on loan and that her stylist was supposed to return it. Lohan’s attorney argued that Lohan had a low cut blouse on and that she should have noticed it. Kaman said, “I wasn’t looking at her chest, I was looking at her face.”

Judge Stephanie Sautner has decided not to dismiss Lindsay Lohan’s grand theft case, but has decided to reduce the charges from a felony to a misdemeanor. Judge Sautner said, “I’m going to give her an opportunity” to prove that she is innocent in trial. The judge went on to rule that Lohan had violated her probation for the incident, but chose not to give Lohan any jail time. The misdemeanor has a penalty option of a year in jail.

Lohan has turned down a couple of plea bargain offers in the theft case.

The owner of Kamofie & Company, Sofia Kaman, testified in court on Friday that the actress stole a $2500 necklace on January 22. Kaman went on to testify that Lohan had been coming in the store looking at items all week, but never made a purchase. According to Kaman, Lohan had said that she would be back to purchase something, so she waited before filing a police report.

According to sources, police waited to make their arrest until the actress was photographed wearing the necklace on February 2. Lohan says that the necklace was a loaner and that her stylist forgot to turn it back in. Kaman denies that there were any arrangements of the sort made with the star.

Lohan’s attorneys argued that Lohan was wearing a low cut shirt that day and questioned why Kaman did not notice the necklace then. Kaman then said, “I wasn’t looking at her chest, I was looking at her face.”

Later, Lohan’s attorney accused Kaman of profiting from the incident saying, “celebrity sells right?” Kaman replied, “it can” and went on to deny that she sold the surveillance tape. The judge told Lohan’s attorney and Kaman to be more respectful.

Lohan pleaded not guilty in a hearing on February 9 and was charged at that time. At that time Judge Keith Schwartz told the actress, “if you violate the law again, I will remand you with no bail. Things will be different.”

Lohan remains on probation from a 2007 drunken driving case and is accused of taking the necklace three weeks after her dismissal from three months in Betty Ford Center for rehab.

Lindsay Lohan has two possible movie deals coming up. The actress is currently awaiting her felony theft trial.

Sources say Hollywood producer Marc Fiore is looking at Lohan for two upcoming movies, one of them being the ‘Gotti’ biopic. Fiore is the executive producer of ‘Gotti: Three Generations’ and says, “I want Lindsay to be in ‘Gotti’ and another movie that I’m producing. She’s a great, great actress.”

Lohan posed for the press earlier this month with Victoria Gotti and seems very interested in the role on ‘Gotti’.

Despite the legal woes that Lohan has had to face, Fiore said he has only seen the responsible side of the actress in his dealings with her. He went on to say, “she’s been very professional with me. People make mistakes. Look at so many other people in Hollywood.”

Lohan’s preliminary hearing in her theft case is set for April 22, but the actress is trying to postpone the hearing in order to observe Good Friday.

Reportedly, Lindsay Lohan is extremely close to landing the role as Victoria Gotti in the upcoming biopic ‘Gotti: Three Generations’. The 24 year old actress definitely looks the part, but producer will have to overlook Lohan’s past. The movie’s producer told sources, “Lindsay is a terrific actress. Nothing has been finalized, but we are definitely in talks.”

Victoria Gotti is said to be pushing for Lohan to get the part. Gotti said, “I think she’s incredible. I think she’s a great actress. I think she can do…any role, really.”

“She had a little bit of a bumpy road recently,” Gotti added. “I think she’s doing great; I think she’s going to continue to do great and she’s got a lot of people rooting for her.”

If Lohan gets the role, she will join John Travolta, who will play John Gotti. “I know first hand that Lindsay Lohan happens to be a big fan of mine,” Travolta said at a press conference. “I’ve always thought she was gorgeous and talented and filled with a lot of depth. So, I think that whatever she would like to do would be great with me.”

According to sources, Lindsay Lohan is in talks to star as Sharon Tate, one of Hollywood’s most famous murder victims in the upcoming Charles Manson movie entitled, ‘Eyes of a Dreamer’. Tate and her unborn child were butchered in 1969.

Photographer Tyler Shields told sources of Lohan’s well-documented troubles, “Sharon Tate was a movie star,” he says. “So I want [an actress who] you already have a backstory with. People have a backstory with someone like Lindsay. And I think it’s very relatable.”

“I’m just going to be directing people to do the craziest sh*t they’ve ever done,” he told sources. “[But] I’m going to find a way to do it where it doesn’t turn people off, but it gives you the feeling of it. I want this to really hit people in a really specific place.”

As much as Shields would like to work with Lohan, it will depends on the outcome of her upcoming trial. Shields is hoping to start working on the film July 15 and if Lohan is not available he will be forced to re-cast the role. He told sources, “We have to shoot the movie this year, so I don’t know. We’ll have to cross that bridge when we come to it. Hopefully that’s not the case.”

Lindsay Lohan gets a little good news.

Lindsay Lohan was handed some good news recently. Following months of investigating, the Riverside County D.A. has decided not to prosecute Lohan for assaulting a Betty Ford employee.

“We are not filing any charges in the Lindsay Lohan case due to insufficient evidence,” DA spokesman John Hall told sources.

The actress was under investigation for a fight she had with Dawn Holland while in Betty Ford. Holland is a staff member at the facility. There was an altercation after Lohan returned to the clinic after leaving a bar at 1:03 a.m. on December 12. The altercation was categorized as “hand to hand battery”.

The District Attorney says the investigation was conducted just like any other without special treatment. “It wasn’t looked at any differently than other cases, and we didn’t put any special priority on this,” Hall said. “We also had to re-interview subsequent times several witnesses in the case.”

This is not the end of Lohan’s legal battles. The star will return to court on April 22 for a preliminary hearing for felony grand theft charges. She is accused of stealing a necklace from a store in Venice.
