May 27, 2010 by David · Leave a Comment

Mindy McCready was hospitalized on Tuesday after her mother made a frantic 911 call and reportedly told RadarOnline that her daughter took 25 or so pills. Mindy has battled drug additions for a long time and recently did a stint on Celebrity Rehab. However, it seems that did not work for McCready. While McCready’s mother is clear that this was an attempted suicide, her reps say they do “not have official verification of … reports of an overdose or attempted suicide.” Her reps also said, “It should be noted that the relationship between Mindy and her mother, Gayle, is volatile and unhealthy. They are currently in the midst of a custody battle for the guardianship of Mindy’s son,” Zander, 4.

Brittany Murphy had a heart murmur and the actress’ mother believes that’s what may have killed her. “The congenital condition was diagnosed when Brittany was a teenager and she always had the best medical care for it,” Sharon Murphy said, RadarOnline.com reports. “We had it checked out every which way you could imagine,” Brittany’s husband Simon Monjack told People magazine. Murphy’s mother also insisted that Brittany did not do drugs, rarely drank and was not mentally ill - all of which have been rumored. The actress died in December at age 32. Her official cause of death is still pending.

Brittany Murphy’s mother in law, Linda Monjack, has opened up about the family’s shock and grief in the wake of the actress’s untimely death over the weekend.
“He has lost the love of his life,” Monjack says of her son, the British screenwriter Simon Monjack, in an interview with The Jewish Chronicle.
“It’s very hard for everybody, especially Simon and Brittany’s mother,” she said. “I’ve spoken to her mother, and she is distraught. Brittany was an only child, and her mother was living with them.”
Brittany’s mother, Sharon Murphy, has not spoken publicly since her daughter, 32, died of cardiac arrest on Sunday. The death is under investigation, and autopsy results are pending.
Monjack, a hypnotherapist in England, said she met Brittany “right at the beginning” but did not know her “terribly well.”
“We’re just completely devastated,” she said.

The Forest Lawn crypt cost $590,000, and $35,000 was spent on the pop star’s clothing. On Tuesday, his mother dropped her objection to two associates of her son being named executors of his estate.
The cost of Michael Jackson’s private funeral topped $1 million, with more than half that amount going to buy a crypt in a celebrity-studded Glendale mausoleum and $35,000 spent on clothes for the singer, according to court documents unsealed Tuesday.
Jackson, who died in June, was interred at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park in September in a nighttime ceremony arranged by his family and paid for by his estate. The probate judge who signed off on those expenses made public the funeral costs at a hearing in which he also appointed two longtime Jackson associates, entertainment attorney John Branca and music executive John McClain, as executors of his estate.

Balloon Boy Update
October 22, 2009 by m.coonce · Leave a Comment

The mother of Colorado “balloon boy” Falcon Heene is a stoic, hardworking woman who is loyal to her family and sometimes subservient to her husband, those who know her say.
She now could face charges along with her husband in last week’s runaway balloon spectacle.
Six-year-old Falcon Heene was reported trapped in the saucer-shaped balloon as it floated across the Colorado plains but was later found alive and well at the family home in Fort Collins, about 60 miles north of Denver.
Authorities say Falcon was a pawn in a hoax hatched by his parents to get publicity for a reality TV show. They say the parents could face criminal charges and be asked to pay restitution for the cost of the massive search-and-rescue operation.
The couple, who have two other sons, have denied staging the incident.
Richard Heene, 48, is the public face of the family, and his aspirations to become a reality TV star and television scientist are well known. Mayumi Heene, 45, has been mostly in the background.
Friends say she emigrated from her native Japan — it’s not clear when — and met Richard at an acting school in Hollywood. Public records show they married in October 1997 in Clark County, Nev., which includes Las Vegas.
The couple ran a film-editing business in Los Angeles for a while, renting a house in 2006 and 2007 from Carrie Cavalier, a Burbank-based photographer who takes publicity headshots.
“When they had their editing business, she was doing all the work. She was in the back guest house doing editing and working on the footage all the time,” Cavalier said.
