A powerful anesthetic recovered from Michael Jackson’s bedside after he died had been purchased in Nevada by his doctor who had it shipped to California, court documents show.

Search warrant records released Friday show that Dr. Conrad Murray bought the sedative propofol from Applied Pharmacy Services on May 12, according to receipts found in his Las Vegas medical office.

The Los Angeles County coroner blamed propofol in ruling that the 50-year-old pop music icon’s June 25 death was a homicide. The coroner also cited the sedative lorazepam.

Murray, 56, is the focus of a Los Angeles police homicide investigation, but has not been charged with a crime.

The cardiologist, who is licensed in Nevada, California and Texas, told police he used propofol along with other sedatives to help Jackson sleep.

Propofol is usually used in medical settings by anesthesia professionals to render patients unconscious for surgery. Officials say it is not meant for use as a sleep agent. However, the milky liquid drug is not regulated by state and federal authorities as a controlled substance.

Boyzone singer Stephen Gately died Saturday while on vacation in Majorca, Spain, the group confirmed on their official website Sunday.

“We are truly sorry to confirm that Stephen tragically died yesterday whilst on holiday, with his partner Andrew in Majorca,” the site said. “We are unable to give any other details at this time.”

His bandmates Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham and Shane Lynch said in a statement: “We are completely devastated by the loss of our friend and brother, Stephen. We have shared such wonderful times together over the years and were all looking forward to sharing many more. Stephen was a beautiful person in both body and spirit. He it up our lives and those of the many friends he had all over the world. Our love and sympathy go out to Andrew and Stephen’s family. We will love you and will miss you forever, ‘Steo’.”

The cause of death is not yet known.

Anna Nicole Smith Investigated in Murder Plot

October 8, 2009 by m.coonce · Leave a Comment

Before she died in 2007, Anna Nicole Smith was investigated by the FBI in connection with an alleged murder plot against the son of her late oil tycoon husband, but the former Playboy Playmate was never prosecuted.

According to documents obtained by The Associated Press, the FBI investigated Smith in 2000 and 2001 in a murder-for-hire plot targeting E. Pierce Marshall. Marshall fought to keep Smith from inheriting his father J. Howard Marshall’s multi-million dollar estate after he died in 1995, less than a year after marrying Smith.

The case bounced around the courts for years until the Supreme Court unanimously ruled in May 2006 that Smith could pursue her late husband’s fortune. The younger Marshall died a month later from an infection. Smith died the following year, in February 2007, from a drug overdose.

Ryan Jenkins Suicide Note Found

October 6, 2009 by m.coonce · Leave a Comment

Reality television contestant Ryan Jenkins left a note on his computer three days before hanging himself in a hotel room.

Jenkins, a suspect in the brutal murder of his swimsuit model wife, Jasmine Fiore, blames her for their unsuccessful marriage, saying she was beautiful, he loved her, and she made him jealous by sleeping with former boyfriends.

Although ostensibly a will, investigators consider the note found on the hard drive of the Megan Wants a Millionaire contestant’s computer a “suicide note” because it provides insight into what he was thinking.

Fiore’s body was found stuffed in a suitcase in a trash bin last August. She had been dismembered, with her teeth and fingertips removed, and was identified by serial numbers on her breast implants.

Jenkins does not deny nor admit to Fiore’s murder in the one-and-a-half page letter — glaringly omitting the manner in which she died, or that he was a suspect in her death.

The will contains personal requests for money and assets to go to specific family members, and an apology to his family and friends for “all the pain and suffering” they would be going through.

Members of Jenkins’ family have never believed he committed the murder.

Report: Atlanta Housewife Kandi Burruss’s Fiancé Killed in Fight

Ashley Jewell, the fiancé of Kandi Burruss, a castmember of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta, has died from an injury sustained during a brawl outside an Atlanta strip club, TV station WBSTV reports.

“It appears he was involved in an altercation in the parking lot and he received a severe blow to the head,” Atlanta Police Lt. Keith Meadows told the TV station. Jewell was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Jewell, known as A.J., appeared regularly on the hit reality show, often clashing with Burruss’s mother, who disapproved of her daughter’s relationship.

Burruss’s publicist Lisa Nelson confirmed to the Atlanta station that Burruss, a singer-songwriter who recorded with the band Xscape and worked with TLC and Mariah Carey, has been informed of the incident and was “stunned and speechless.”

Police said they have not determined a motive for the brawl, but the investigation is still under way.

“We have developed a person of interest and we’ve made contact with him to question him about the incident,” said Lt. Meadows.

Jasmine Fiore: More Plastic than Human

Ryan Jenkins was sued by BMW for over $12,000 — and the lawsuit was filed only days before he hanged himself in a Canadian hotel.

According to docs filed in Edmonton, Alberta on August 20, Jenkins was leasing a 2007 BMW 335xi — but stopped making payments on it in March 2009.

BMW says the vehicle was returned to them — but Jenkins still needed to fork over $12,750.76 for the lease, plus interest.

The BMW he was getting sued over is not the same one used to flee to Canada.

Ryan Jenkins is the estranged husband and primary suspect in the Jasmine Fiore murder.
