Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are officially parents.

Reportedly, Mariah Carey gave birth to her twins, a son and a daughter, on Saturday in Los Angeles, which is the same day as the couple’s anniversary. The 42 year old singer gave birth just after noon time.

Carey’s rep told sources that the baby girl arrived first weighing 5 lbs., 3 oz. and 18 inches long. Then came her brother, weighing 5 lbs. 6 oz. and 19 inches long. The rep said Carey’s song “We Belong Together” was playing after the twins arrived.

The proud father, Nick Cannon, 30, tweeted, “My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift in life! I won’t ever be able to top this!”

Sources say, the names of the babies has yet to be made public.

Carey has been anticipating this day for some time now. She has been sharing her excitement, showing off his & hers nursery and posting pictures on Twitter.

Mariah Carey’s false alarm.

Singer Mariah Carey, 42, went to the hospital this weekend thinking that it was time to deliver, but was sent home due to false alarm. The Grammy Winner and her husband, Nick Cannon, are expecting twins, a boy and a girl.

On the morning of March 27, she tweeted that the twins, “really wanted 2 celebrate w/us/share the anniversary!” She also said, “I started having contractions last night…went 2 the hospital.”

Her next tweet read, “Finally they said I could come home after they got it under control but…They almost came on 3/27- happy anniversary in deed!!! We have a few more weeks 2 go but- wow!!!”

Earlier in the week, Cannon, 30, tweeted about the upcoming delivery, “I am probably going to faint in the delivery room! I need to man up!” He tweeeted. “Or maybe I should say WOMAN UP, since they are the ones that have to be the strongest in the whole ordeal!”

He went on to say, “I am in awe of my wife!”

Carey and Cannon tied the knot in 2008 and announced they were expecting in October. Then in December they announced it was twins and shortly after confirmed it was a boy and a girl.

The Twitter argument in October between Nick Cannon and Chelsea Handler was not only because of the comments Handler said about Cannon, the expentant father. Cannon reportedly has said it all started when Handler made comments about his wife, Mariah Carey.

Handler reportedly tweeted, “I just heard Nick Cannon is starting a comedy tour. Who’s going to do the comedy?” Cannon reportedly made a rather controversial tweet calling Handler, Eminem and Howard Stern “ugly white trash.”

Handler reportedly called Cannon’s radio show and the duo made ammends. At that time, Cannon revealed a little more about the fued saying, “For a while … she was constantly on her show, kind of picking on me and my wife. You can say what you want about me, but when you start talking about my wife, I get a little sensitive,” he admitted. “Hey, that’s my family, you know? The protective lion comes out.” Cannon went on to admit that he went a little too far saying, “I said some things that I don’t really regret, but that were a little harsh, and we went back-and-forth.”

Cannon and Mariah Carey recently welcomed twins into the world, one boy and one girl. The couple has yet to decide on names for the babies. “We believe we have them, but you never know until you actually name them,” Cannon said. “I have vetoed a few names, but don’t know until you actually see them in person. Maybe we’ll come up with something new. We’ll know on the day they are born.”

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey are in fact expecting twins. Cannon told the radio show that the first people they told were President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama, which was after a performance by Carey: “She shared with the President and the First Lady that we are having twins. I haven’t even told my wife I was doing this, so I am probably going to get yelled at for not getting permission.”

Mariah Carey and husband, Nick Cannon, recently did an interview with US Weekly and opened up about their pregnancy woes. Carey had initially suffered a miscarriage in 2008 and was devistated. She says she then started taking progesterone, a hormone prescribed to boost fertility and support or help maintain pregnancy in women susceptible to miscarriage. Nick Cannon said that his diva wife also did “once-a-day” acupuncture, “all over her body. He said it was a good de-stressor.” The two are expecting in the Spring.

What is it with all these stars renewing their vows only after a few years of marriage? For Tori and Dean and Heidi and Seal it’s been 5 years. For Mariah and Nick it’s only been a year!
