Michael Douglas speaks about his wife’s disorder.

April 26, 2011 by David · Leave a Comment

Michael Douglas spoke out about his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones’ battle with bipolar II disorder in an interview with Oprah Winfrey on Tuesday. Douglas say his wife’s private struggle was “outed” by the media.

“I must say, Catherine’s being quite open about it because she was outed, you know,” the actor said. “She went to go get some help and some other patient probably in there said, ‘Hey, you won’t believe who’s in here now.’ And, so, once that happens, I think she felt [it] best to kind of get out the story.”

The National Enquirer reported Zeta-Jones was in a mental facility, which prompted a statement.

“My oldest son is in federal prison, my ex-wife is suing me, and I got cancer. It’s kind of hard for the wife to say, ‘I’m depressed,’” Michael said. Douglas says this is why she was hesitant to talk about her disorder.

“It takes a lot of courage to seek help and I am proud of Catherine for doing something positive about her situation. It’s onwards and upwards for us,” Douglas told sources after his wife spent five days in the clinic.

She added: “This is a disorder that affects millions of people and I am one of them. If my revelation of having bipolar II has encouraged one person to seek help, then it’s worth it. There is no need to suffer silently and there is no shame in seeking help.”

Zeta-Jones is back at work filming in Louisiana.

“Catherine is one of a kind,” a friend said. “Of course the couple hoped that this would remain private, but when it became clear the tabloids were going to expose her private business, the two of them, both Catherine and Michael, couldn’t have acted in a more classy manner.”

Douglas also told Oprah about his positive update with his health struggles saying that the cancer has not returned. He went on to say, “this particular type of cancer has a good record of not coming back. But it can. So for the first year I’ve got to go every month and get checked in every three months.”

The controversial bio of Oprah Winfrey by author, Kitty Kelly, just may become a movie. TV producer, Larry Thompson, just bought the rights to “Oprah: A Biography” for a reported six-figure sum. He told The Post, “This is much more than a rags-to-riches story. I think Oprah is one of the most interesting and fascinating people on the planet.” He went on to say, “Being from Clarksdale, Miss. myself, I’ve always been aware of her career and have marveled at her journey.”

Mo’Nique’s brother, Gerald Imes, appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show and finally admitted to molesting her - after 2 years of denying the allegations. He said the abuse started when he was 13 and she was only 7. He also said he was sexually molested and started drinking and using drugs at the age of 11. He told Oprah, “I abused and betrayed the trust of another sibling, my sister, my blood sister.” Mo’Nique declined to appear on the show but apparently gave Oprah her blessing to move forward and told Oprah, “if your expressing what you had done to her could save one family, then it would be worth it.”

Denise Richards on Oprah

Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife, Denise Richards went on Oprah and talked to her about her relationship with Charlie Sheen. She discussed how they’re marriage, though, at times it would get heated, he never hit her; calling the current situation with new wife ’sad.’

She also recounted how last Christmas, when the 911 call came in about Charlie Sheen, she received a phone call from him. He wanted to talk to his children and wish them a Merry Christmas; only thing is, by this time, he was already in jail. Richards, knowing he was in jail, let them talk to Sheen, but didn’t disclose his situation to them. They’re on 4 & 5 yrs old.

Later, at school, the kids were told by other students that their Dad went to jail, so Richards sat them down and told them what happened.

Fans of Lady Gaga were sufficiently baffled by the lyrics to her song “Bad Romance”; now they’re trying to understand how she was able to make a Friday appearance on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” while canceling or postponing several concert dates.

On Thursday evening Lady Gaga canceled a show she was to perform at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., writing on her Twitter account that she “was feeling dizzy and having trouble breathing” before the show and that she was later given a diagnosis of exhaustion and dehydration by paramedics.

On Friday she taped an appearance on Ms. Winfrey’s show, where she discussed her upbringing, her personal life and her fans (and told the host, “There’s Gandhi, and there’s Oprah”) and also performed her song “Monster.” But that was the only performance that Lady Gaga would give for the weekend.

November 20, 2009 by m.coonce · Leave a Comment

In another blow to the struggling business of network television, Oprah Winfrey is expected to announce on her program today that she will step down from her syndicated afternoon talk show, which over the last two decades has transformed her into one of the richest and most influential forces in popular culture.

Although she has kept mum about her plans, Winfrey, 55, is expected to furnish a new show to OWN: the Oprah Winfrey Network, the long-delayed cable outlet she is starting in partnership with Discovery Communications. The network is scheduled to roll out in 2011 in about 75 million U.S. homes.

Sarah Palin will go ‘Rogue’ in GR

November 18, 2009 by m.coonce · Leave a Comment

Oprah Winfrey is only the beginning for Sarah Palin’s book tour.

Starting Wednesday, the day after Palin’s “Going Rogue” was released and two days after she was interviewed by Winfrey, the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate will make appearances around the country, from a Barnes & Noble store in Grand Rapids to the Army post in Fort Bragg, N.C.

Wow, you’d think she was a celebrity or something. They’re doing great PR for this book, and people are lining up to get it or to meet her, or whatever the fuck. It’s all about making money and creating a base for the future. When politicians throw more creative adjectives at you than substance, they’re just blowing smoke. This ‘Going Rogue’ is only about the money, but you’d think it was about saving humanity the way the media it falling all over her.

If it wasn’t for the Palin vs. Levi thing, odds are she wouldn’t even be on this site.

Rosie Talks about Oprah on Howard Stern Show

October 28, 2009 by m.coonce · Leave a Comment

In a candid new interview on “The Howard Stern Show,” Rosie O’Donnell opened up publicly for the first time about her relationship troubles with partner Kelli Carpenter, took aim at “Late Show” host David Letterman and talked about TV talk queen Oprah Winfrey and the gay rumors.

During her interview on Stern’s Sirius XM show, the shock jock asked O’Donnell about why rumors exist that Winfrey could be gay.

“I don’t know. I think she’s never been married and she’s exceptionally close to Gayle [King],” O’Donnell, who was promoting her own Sirius XM show, “Rosie Radio,” which stars next Monday, said. “I don’t know that she and Gayle are necessarily doing each other but I think they are the emotional equivalent of…“A gay couple,” Stern chimed in.

“When they did that road trip, that’s as gay as it gets,” O’Donnell said. “And I don’t mean it to be an insult either. I’m just saying, listen, if you ask me, that’s the couple.”

Winfrey and King have long denied the rumors.
