ABC & FOX seeks Paula Abdul’s attention

Paula Abdul has been getting a lot of lucrative attention the last few weeks, as speculation pertaining to her return to the hit reality show ‘American Idol’ continued to mount, then fizzle with the realization that she will not be returning.

Now, Fox is seeking Ms. Abdul for their hit reality show ‘So You Think You Can Dance.” Earlier, ABC extended an offer to Paula as a judge on their hit show ‘Dancing With The Stars.’

Paula Abdul not expected to return to ‘American Idol’

What was once thought to be a ploy for upcoming contract negotiations seems more so a reality now as Fox Entertainment Chairman Peter Rice spoke to reports announcing that it is almost certain that Paula Abdul will not be returning for another season of ‘American Idol.’

Rice goes on to state that Paula was offered a multiyear, eight-figure salary or the equivalent to a 30% raise from her previous contract. “I have no expectation that Paula’s going to [re-open negotiations],” he said. “And in terms of the negotiations themselves, the negotiations have concluded.”

Paula Abdul Fooled In Bruno Movie Prank

Paula Abdul is fuming mad that she fell for a prank, by Sasha Baron Cohen for his new movie Bruno. 

Sasha had contacted Paula and told her that she was to be named “Artist of the Year”.

The American Idol judge recounts the prank in great, great detail in an interview with 104.7 FM - under the cut.

Paula explains and Us transcribes:

“I’m greeted by this futuristic, Captain Nemo–looking dude with a mohawk — and he’s flaming,” recalls Abdul, who said she never signed a release (her publicist did). “I’m like, ‘OK, this is weird. Is this a variety show or something like that?’”

American Idol Tries to Kill Mark Mudd Controversy

Today, on the American Idol website, the producers issued a clarification about Be Careful Gate.

We apologize to any viewers who were offended by the misinterpretation of the contestant’s comment to “be careful” upon completion of his audition in Louisville, KY. Our visits to audition cities are relatively brief and sometimes regional greetings and salutations are lost in translation. We had not heard that phrase from any other contestants during the day, so it took everyone by surprise. We now know better and look forward to visiting Louisville again someday.

The freak out happened after Mark Mudd, who who sang George Jones’ “White Lightning”, was rejected by all four judges. While exiting the stage Mudd Muttered “All right. Take care and be careful,”
(Cue Abdul’s freakout)

“What?” Paula replied.

“Be careful in whatever you do,” Mudd repeated.

“Was that a threat?” Abdul replied. “That was a threat.”

I think Paula Abdul was going a little crazy, but then again when doesn’t she.
