William Shatner would like a role in Star Trek.

Actor William Shatner, who played Captain James T Kirk in Star Trek 19 years ago, has reportedly told sources that he would like a role in the next Star Trek movie and told sources, “I’d be delighted”.
The movie is due out in 2012 and Shatner added one of his main motivations for wanting a role was so that he could feel larger, saying, “I’ve become acquainted with JJ Abrams and he’s smaller than I am. I like to find people I can stand next to that I can tower over.”
Shatner previously said he thought Star Trek would not become a “big deal”. The 79 year old actor told the New York Times, “I never thought it’d become a big deal, just 13 episodes and out. I didn’t think I was hard to get along with. There were a few disaffected actors who came in once a week. I had nothing to do with them. Friendly!
“I was working seven days a week, learning 10 pages of dialogue a day. They had one line! Then after the show was canceled and the Star Trek phenomenon began, those actors would go to the conventions. They’d get applause, praise, and begin to think, ‘Hey, I was wonderful, and Shatner stole the spotlight.’
“Then that character was foisted on me by people in the press.
“They said I was this William Shatner character, and I figured I had to be it. Pompous, takes himself seriously, hardheaded.
“So I played it. But I didn’t see it. That character doesn’t seem like me to me. I know the real William Shatner. At least one of us should.”

William Shatner Wants To Return To Star Trek

William Shatner has spoken out about his displeasure at J.J. Abrams remaking the Star Trek movie with a young fresh cast, rather than the cool original crew.
The actor is making no secret of his desire to return to the franchise and have some input into making it all work.
“I know J.J. Abrams a little bit,” Shatner tells OnMilwaukee.com.
“What I would say to him… is why not write something for the Kirk character as he approaches death once again? But as he dies, with having lived a full life, what would that do? How would that work in an action movie?”
