Taylor Swift helps the tornado victims.

Taylor Swift and her crew found themselves in the middle of a scary situation when they were shooting scenes for the video of ‘Story of Us’ at Vanderbilt University. The University is located near her home in Nashville, Tennessee. Shooting was interrupted due to a weather emergency.

“There were a few complications. This was actually when a bunch of tornadoes were hitting Nashville,’ Swift said about the filming. “We had to hide. All of us, we had to hide in a room where there were no windows, so that was a little bit crazy.”

Sources say that Swift turned in what was going to be a dress rehearsal for her ‘Speak Now’ tour in Nashville, into an event to assist the people affected by the recent tornados in the South.

“I just felt, if there was any way that I could help with the damage done and all the families who’ve lost their homes, then I had to think of one,” Swift said. Swift also went on to report that one of her backup dancers’ families were directly affected in the Alabama tornado outbreak. “It came to me really quickly that here we are at a rehearsal in an arena where there are empty seats. What if we filled those empty seats and gave all the proceeds to the victims of the tornadoes?”

“We don’t have the final tally yet, but we do know, so far, that just based on tickets alone, you have raised over $750,000,” she told the crowd at Saturday’s concert. “So, thank you from the bottom of my heart for being with us tonight. I cannot tell you what a difference you are making to the lives of our loved ones in the Southeast.”

Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift call it quits

Jake Gyllenhaal, 30, and Taylor Swift, 21, have decided to call it quits. The couple was last seen together December 9th. Each of the stars Reps neither confirmed nor denied the the duo was actually a couple. Some speculate that it could have been a publicity stunt. However, a source close to the duo says “it has been over since last month”.

Taylor Swift Releases Her First Fragrance

Taylor Swift is expanding her franchise to now include perfume. Swift said, “I have always loved how fragrance can shape a memory…the way certain scents remind you of events and people that are imprinted in your thoughts.” She went on to say, “Lately I’ve been having fun experimenting with combining some of my favorite scents, so I’m really excited about working with Elizabeth Arden to develop my own unique fragrance.”

The tabloids were set afire this past weekend when 20 year old singer, Taylor Swift, and 29 year old Jake Gyllenhaal were seen hanging out in New York. The two visited the Saturday Night Live set and also shared brunch in Brooklyn. However, sources close to both Swift and Gyllenhall both told People.com that the two are friends and have no intentions of entering into a relationship.

Taylor Swift Enjoying the Single Life

Taylor Swift opened up about her love life during an interview with People Magazine. While she is usually tight lipped when it comes to talking about her love life, she will open up while singing to millions of folks. She did, however, tell the magazine, “There’s been extreme joy, extreme pain, extreme curveballs. Sometimes when things impact you so intensely, it takes writing a song to get over them.” But, the teenage superstar doesn’t mind being single one bit. She said, “Being single is wonderful and I love it. I don’t ever have a morning where I wake up and say, ‘I really need to find a boyfriend today.’”

Lindsay Lohan Goes Back to Rehab

After being released on bail late Friday night - less than one day after she was ordered back to jail - Lohan again checked into a substance abuse rehab program. The 24 year old actress apparently checked in on Monday, a source told People/com. Apparently the producers of the movie, “Inferno” are still willing to wait for Lindsay to star in their movie and have moved production to January. However, it is reported that Lohan’s latest film role, “Rom-Com One Night With You,” was recently given to singer/actress, Taylor Swift.

Stars Lining up for “Nashville Rising: A Benefit Concert for Flood Recovery,”

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will be hosting a benefit concert to raise money for the flood victims in Nashville, TN. Stars already signing up to perform include Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Miley Cyrus, Brooks & Dunn, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Amy Grant, LeAnn Rimes, Miranda Lambert and Martina McBride. the benefit is called “Nashville Rising: A Benefit Concert for Flood Recovery” and will be held on June 22 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Proceeds will go to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, a nonprofit group that provides philanthropic services.

Time Magazine Most Influential List

Time Magazine just published their annual list of the Most Influential People and topping the list are Lady Gaga and Robert Pattinson. Speaking of Gaga, Cyndi Lauper wrote, “When I see somebody like Gaga, I sit back in admiration….“I’m inspired to pick up the torch again myself. I did an interview with her once, and she showed up with a sculpture on her head. I thought, ‘How awesome.’” Other musician’s making the list are Prince, Elton John and Taylor Swift. Other TV and film stars making the list are Neil Patrick Harris, Lea Michele, Simon Cowell, James Cameron, Kathryn Bigelow, Oprah Winfrey and Ricky Gervais.

Carrie Underwood Wins Entertainer of the Year

Carrier Underwood makes history by becoming the first female entertainer of the year for two consecutive years. Underwood, 27, won entertainer of the year in 2009 as well as the triple crown prize - which means she won not only entertainer of the year, female vocalist and newcomer prizes. A big shock is that Taylor Swift, who received five nominations, went home empty handed.

Taylor Swift Heading for Australia

Taylor Swift leaves for Australia this week on a tour. Her managers are happy that she’s going because, back here in the States, they’re worried about her being over exposed. Or people burning out on her, not the other way around.

“The Australian dates had been planned all along, but it actually worked out great,” says Scott Borchetta, who runs Big Machine Records, Swift’s label, and co-manages her career.

“The next time you see her will likely be on the ACM (Academy of Country Music) awards show” in April, Borchetta says. “During that time, we’re going to have a new video, but as far as the talking head of Taylor Swift, that one’s gone into hiding for a little bit, at least on this continent.”

Avoiding overexposure isn’t the only issue the 20-year-old faces. Critics have panned her recent live TV performances as pitchy. The Grammy duet with Stevie Nicks was no exception. “Now, everybody knows that Taylor Swift can’t sing,” influential blogger Bob Lefsetz wrote after the performance.

“They’ve got to figure out how to get this girl to sing on TV and sound right,” says former Spin magazine editor Alan Light. “That’s becoming more of a limitation as she’s flying at that altitude.”

Borchetta says Swift is working on her live TV performances.

“She’s a very intelligent girl,” he says. “She’s going to keep addressing it and keep getting better.”

But Light also points out that in an era when many stars lip-sync, Swift’s less-than-pitch-perfect television performances humanize her. “The fact that it’s not perfect, in some ways, has been an asset,” he says. “That makes it all the more believable, to a certain point.”
