Amy Winehouse Pleads Guilty to Assault

January 20, 2010 by m.coonce · Leave a Comment

On Dec 19th, Amy Winehouse was at a theatre ,Milton Keynes Theater, in England, watching a performance of Cinderella. Apparently, she showed up drunk and was making noises during the show. A member of the audience told her to be quiet, which she did. Later, she went to the theatre manager requesting more to drink. When she was declined and asked to leave the building, Winehouse grabbed the managers hair and began pulling on it. Just like an old style cat fight between women. Winehouse was given two year conditional release and ordered to pay $140 in court costs and $150 to the manager.

It has grossed $1.6 billion dollars, putting it shy of his first record with ‘Titanic’ of only $200 million dollars. To put this in context, ‘Titanic was released in 1998 and it took 3 months to reach the record. ‘Avatar’ was released only 32 days ago, putting it way ahead of the earnings of the first film.

Theatre Owners Name Sandra Bulock their Top Star

In the eyes of U.S. movie theater owners, Sandra Bullock shined as 2009’s top Hollywood star at the box office, as the actress nicknamed “America’s Sweetheart” scored with audiences after a two-year absence from screens.

Quigley Publishing Company’s annual list released on Thursday of top money making stars, based on a poll of hundreds of theater executives, had Bullock beat out such stars as George Clooney and Denzel Washington, on the strength of her roles in “The Proposal” and “The Blind Side.”

Romantic comedy “The Proposal” made $315 million at worldwide box offices following its June release, and football drama “The Blind Side” has made $193 million only in the U.S. and Canada since its November 20 release, with its roll-out in other countries still to come.

Bullock, who also starred in the 2009 comedy “All About Steve” with its $34 million take in the U.S. and Canada, is the eighth woman to top Quigley’s list of top money making stars, which the company has put out each year since 1932.

Quigley Publishing said the list does not rank stars only on how much cash their films made, but on what theater owners say about who attracts audiences on their star power alone.

For instance, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” was the top movie at U.S. and Canada box offices in 2009 with more than $400 million, but many in Hollywood attribute that to the appeal of the franchise itself and the toys it’s based on.

Iron Man 2: Releases New Poster

December 1, 2009 by m.coonce · Leave a Comment

It’s here! The first official poster for Iron Man 2 has debuted over on Yahoo and it features a familiar face. It’s no secret that the sequel will highlight the rise of Iron Man’s sidekick War Machine, so it only makes sense that he appears with him on the poster.

Jon Favreau has been keeping his word during the majority of the preliminary promotion for the film. We heard that the poster might drop this weeks and lo’ and behold it did! The director also hinted that the first teaser trailer for Iron Man 2 might play in front of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes, another Robert Downey Jr. pic.

It sounds like a great way to kick off the 2010 promotion for the film, and hopefully that’s exactly what will happen. The only odd thing about the trailer showing up in front Holmes is the fact that Iron Man 2 is a Paramount production and Holmes is Warner Bros, but hopefully it all works out.

Here’s the full poster that we’ll have to drool over until something new comes a long. It features the new Iron Man suit as well as War Machine and his ever present weaponry. I need some AC/DC to start playing in my ear right about now.
