‘The Tonight Show’: Levi Johnston’s Tweets read by Shatner

“The Tonight Show” stirred up a bit — and we do mean just a bit — of controversy Wednesday night by having William Shatner do a dramatic reading of Twitter updates purportedly written by Palin family scourge and soon-to-be Playgirl model Levi Johnston.

Except they weren’t really Johnston’s authentic tweets. They were those of an impostor using Johnston’s name, and his lawyer demanded an apology. He got one, in a manner of speaking, on Thursday’s show. But it’s hard to pick a fight with a guy who has his own TV show.

“I’d like to personally apologize to Levi Johnston, and his lawyer and publicist, for misrepresenting him in any way,” Conan O’Brien said on Thusday’s broadcast. “Levi is clearly a great American, and we wish him the best of luck as he trains for his upcoming naked photo shoot.”

Meghan McCain Twitter and Photo

The Internet hills are alive with talk of, well, Meghan McCain’s hills. Last night, the 24-year-old daughter of former Republican Presidential candidate John McCain posted a photo of herself on her personal Twitter page captioned “my ’spontaneous’ night in…” which showed her clutching an Andy Warhol biography to her rather spectacular expanse of nearly chin-grazing bosom. The image quickly garnered attention far outside her 63,500 followers — and resulted in a rash of emotional tweets from McCain herself, including: “so I took a fun picture not thinking anything about what I was wearing but apparently anything other than a pantsuit I am a slut,” and “why I have been considering deleting my Twitter account, what once was fun now just seems like a vessel for harassment.”

Today, she posted an apology, calling the episode “an embarrassing experience but also a learning one,” and tweeting, “I have clearly made a huge mistake and am sorry 2 those that are offended.”

Unofficial “Twilight” Twitter accounts are now out of fashion, as the Saga now has its own official home on Twitter at @Twilight, and its follow list is the most official listing for movie-verified cast accounts that you’re likely to find. The series’ hunks Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner may still be absent from the micro-blogging site – as is Kristen Stewart – but the 20 accounts it does follow span the Cullen family, “New Moon,” “Eclipse” and Stephenie Meyer’s universe.

Miley Cyrus Raps about Deleting Twitter

Miley Cyrus decided to rap a little video about deleting her Twitter Account. While it’s poetic, everyone knows that celebrities hunger for attention and SHE WILL BE BACK. I give it two months before she reopens her account and sends out an appology explaining that she was going through a real crisis at that point of her life. You’ll see.

It’s true, Miley lovers: Hannah Montana is a Twitter Quitter. According to People, Cyrus has apparently deleted her page at the behest of her Last Song co-star and rumored boyfriend Liam Hemsworth. The farewell tweet? “FYI Liam doesn’t have a Twitter and he wants ME to delete mine with good reason,” the teen superstar wrote today. Now, the page is naught but a dead, empty link.

Apparently, there can be no party in the U.S.A. without her; #mileycomeback is currently Twitter’s top trending topic.

Jessica Simpson ‘Twitters’ about her dog

Jessica Simpson broadcast her latest heartache on Twitter late Monday, writing that her beloved dog, Daisy, was snatched away by a coyote and is missing.

“My heart is broken because a coyote took my precious Daisy right in front of our eyes. HORROR!” she tweeted.

Simpson named Daisy after Daisy Duke, the tough-talking waitress Simpson played in “The Dukes of Hazzard” movie. The pooch was a gift from her ex-husband, Nick Lachey.

Ironically, someone posted this comment to Jessica just after she ‘tweeted.’

Sad. Poor dog. But, Jessica, do you understand a coyote took the dog? I doubt anyone is going to find him. As another site said, coyotes don’t read & can not get in touch with you about returning the dog & getting the reward.
