Tatum O’Neal: Arrested

Actress Tatum O’Neal was arrested Sunday night around 7:30pm after she was spotted buying crack and cocaine near her apartment.

O’Neal was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance but apparently was just doing research for a role.

O’Neal told investigators once arrested that she would be playing the part of a junkie in an upcoming movie and she was gathering material for her part.

Considering she has a colorful history of drug abuse, the police didn’t buy her story. (After her 1992 divorce from John McEnroe, she had to deal with a serious addiction to heroin and lost custody of her children as a result.)

I wonder when we can expect this “junkie role” to hit the big screen. It seems like just keeping up with what she’s doing is illustrative enough of a junkie.
