Will Ferrell To Star In ‘Land of the Lost’ Remake

Always excited to hear about another Will Ferrell movie, but that was squashed pretty quickly when I read that it’s going to be a “Land of the Lost” remake with a $100 million budget:

Decision to greenlight the Will Ferrell project surprised observers, who are aware that U had a rough ride with its $160 million comedy “Evan Almighty.” Studio sources suggest the budget of “Land of the Lost,” described as an event comedy, was recalibrated from $125 million to $100 million in order to earn its start date.

There’s not a lot more depressing than the realization that Universal Studios thinks it’s a good idea to spend $260 million on “Evan Almighty” and a “Land of the Lost” remake.

Well, actually I guess what’s more depressing is the fact that all of these movies will probably turn a healthy profit for Universal.

Ferrell used to be pretty awesome, but he seems to be trying his hardest to kill that by doing crap like “Kicking and Screaming” and “Bewitched”. I guess I can handle him getting a payday every once in a while if he keeps showing up in movies like “Stranger than Fiction”, but hopefully he won’t start doing movies like “Land of the Lost” exclusively. We need less television remakes, not more.
