Yves Saint Laurent: Dies

The French fashion icon Yves Saint Laurent died Sunday in Paris at age 71. He was known as one of the greatest designers of the 20th century and was one of a handful of designers who remained a constant in the world of fashion for the later half of the 1900’s.

Saint Laurent retired from haute couture in 2002 after being ill for some time and admitted to being haunted by “those false friends which are tranquillisers and narcotics” at his farewell bash that year.
