Motorbikes are a popular pastime amongst a select few celebrities. Perhaps they’re tired of being recognised, and so enjoy hiding behind the helmet and visor; perhaps they crave the isolation and freedom that comes from the open road. If you’re a Hollywood A-lister, then the meagre cost of fuel and motorbike insurance aren’t going to hold you back. But a few celebrities stand out as being especially committed to the hobby. Let’s take a look!
Tom Cruise
Among the biggest names in Hollywood, Cruise directs, produces, and acts in multimillion dollar franchises like Mission Impossible – and he also performs all of his own stunts, including those on the back of a motorcycle. He owns an extensive garage, crammed with classic two-wheeled motors.
Ewan McGregor
McGregor makes no secret of his passion for motorcycling. He’s been enjoying his time on two wheels since he was young, and has made several films documenting his long-haul trips around the world, with the most recent being Long Way Up, which debuted on Apple TV in 2020.
Justin Timberlake
Justin Timberlake has a well-documented interest in all things bike-related. Once upon a time, he could be spotted in Hollywood on a classic Harley Davidson, surrounded by a swarm of paparazzi. Nowadays, he’s a little more savvy about avoiding attention – but the open road is a great place to do just that!
Richard Hammond
Along with fellow Grand Tour presenter James May, Richard Hammond has a love of bikes, as well as cars. He’s been riding since his sixteenth birthday, with his first love being a Honda MTX50. His collection is rumoured to include a 1927 Sunbeam and a Ducati 916.
Gordon Ramsey
Gordon Ramsey is a big deal in the United States, with several different TV shows bringing in huge audiences. He’s a little more than a famous TV chef: a more appropriate description would be a cultural phenomenon. And when you’re that kind of person, you can indulge expensive hobbies. ‘Biking gives me a sense of freedom and escape’ he once told an interviewer. ‘I’ve done in excess of 195mph on a track. Never on a road.’ Which is reassuring.
Keanu Reeves
Keanu is distinct among celebrities in that he not only loves motorbikes, but he loves them so much that he started his very own motorcycle company, Arch Motorcycle, along with long-time buddy Gard Hollinger. The company makes hand-crafted bikes from California.
